What is autotargeting in ad networks?
You probably know already that keywords are not the only factor that can trigger ads to appear in YAN. An important role is played by other settings like behavioral targeting, which can generate more than half of your campaign's traffic and conversions . When making a decision whether to show a banner, Yandex.Direct takes into account a whole range of different signals about users' interests and online behavior. These "keyword-less" behavioral algorithms now appear as a separate setting. Soon you will be able to see their results in your statistics and set a separate bid for them as you do for your keywords.
Autotargeting in ad networks: what for and how
Once you enable autotargeting, you can figure out which algorithms in your specific case bring the most high-quality traffic, and then independently distribute your budget between your keywords and autotargeting.
Set a bid for autotargeting in ad networks that is comparable to your bids for keywords. If you set a lower bid, you risk getting less traffic than you are used to. Then compare your CPA for keywords and keyword-less targeting and, if necessary, make adjustments to your bid.
Please note: If your campaign's ads appear on all sites (Search and ad networks) and autotargeting is enabled for Search, then autotargeting will be enabled for ad networks as well. The bid will be calculated automatically based on your ad campaign's settings. Any campaigns for ad networks with autotargeting disabled will not be affected.
Autotargeting will be launched gradually, but access to the new setting will be given to all Yandex.Direct users next week. To find out more about this new setting and how it differs from autotargeting on Search, please read the corresponding Help section.
