How do I set up Mobile Mediation?
To display ads from external advertising systems, follow these steps:
- In the YAN interface, enter the block IDs of the advertising systems whose ads you want to display. You can find the block IDs in the interface of the selected demand platform.
- Integrate the latest version of the Yandex Mobile Ads SDK in your app. After adding the SDK, Mobile Mediation between the selected advertising systems starts working in the app.
How does the Mobile Mediation platform select demand platforms?
A combination of the best impression cost and advertising system is selected automatically based on thresholds set by the app owner.
App owners set multiple thresholds at specific increments for each advertising system.
This creates a combination of selected advertising systems and thresholds.
Then the Mobile Mediation platform is trained. Its aim is to identify which advertising system is most likely to buy a specific request at the highest price.
The Mobile Mediation platform simultaneously considers over a hundred factors when choosing the optimal advertising system for displaying ads. These include the user's history, device type, behavior, and geolocation.
Based on this data, the Mobile Mediation platform makes a request plan and, first of all, sends a request to the advertising system that is more likely to buy an impression at the highest price. Planning increases the probability that impressions are purchased, saves time by not polling every single advertising system, and displays ads faster, which increases the fill rate.
This request plan helps the app prioritize ad impressions from various advertising systems.
How long does it take to train the Mobile Mediation platform?
It takes about two weeks to train the Mobile Mediation platform and ensure it works correctly in your app. During this time, it evaluates target audience activity at different intervals and gains the necessary number of impressions for training.
Are there any client case studies?
The Mamba dating app experiment with Mobile Mediation helped the app owners increase their average revenue in different ad blocks by 30%. Revenue grew the most for the block in the carousel with images: 55%. We described the experiment in detail in an earlier post.
How can I comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?
If your business is established in the EU or Switzerland, or you must comply with GDPR requirements for other reasons, the Yandex Mobile Ads SDK lets you set up tools to obtain consent for data collection from users of your app. Follow our instructions (for iOS/Android) to ensure your app is GDPR compliant.
How can I manage ad impressions from competitors? Can I control ad topics? Can I ban certain topics?
You can ban unwanted ads in YAN from being displayed. Ads can be banned by site domain, mobile app Bundle ID, and phone number. In external demand platforms, you also need to set up blocking in each advertising network interface. If your app is used by children, you can set up a Family filter.

How is remuneration paid?
Yandex doesn't aggregate payments from external demand platforms. This means that you get paid directly for ad impressions from the advertising systems that you enabled in the Mobile Mediation platform.
Remuneration for YAN is paid when the amount of your revenue reaches a certain threshold. This threshold depends on the type of partnership and country of residence. For more information about remuneration, see Support.
Where can I view statistics for different demand platforms?
In the Mobile Mediation interface, you can view requests and rendering for each advertising system and the fill rate for placements.
To view the complete statistics on revenue from each demand platform, go to the interface of the specific demand platform. You can find YAN statistics for a specific ad block in the Partner interface.
