Filters for tag data access management
You can now grant users access only to the parts of tag data that is required to handle specific tasks. To do this, create a segment with the required information in Yandex Metrica, save it as an access filter, and grant users permission to access it. This feature will be useful, for example, if you need to provide an expert with data on ad campaign traffic only, while hiding other info.
How to use it
Set different access levels for different specialists. Let’s say you have a paid traffic specialist and an SEO specialist working on your online store. Instead of giving both full access to the tag statistics, you can share individual segments with them. For the paid traffic specialist, grant access to paid traffic stats, and for the SEO specialist, provide access to organic traffic stats.
Hide sensitive data. If you don’t want all tag users to see financial information, you can grant access only to those data segments that a specific expert requires. For instance, allow sales managers to access statistics on calls and sales from different traffic sources.
Restrict access based on geography. For example, if you’re doing business in the Russian and South American markets, you can set up two access filters, one with statistics on South America and the other with statistics on Russia, and grant access to this data when needed.
In the basic version of Yandex Metrica, you can create a single access filter. If you need multiple filters, enable Yandex Metrica Pro.
How to create an access filter
1. Go to the desired report, for example, «Sources: Summary».
2. Set the segmentation rules.
3. Save a segment as an access filter. The segment will appear in the Access section of the tag settings.
4. Add users to the access filter. To do this, select it for the current users from the «Individual access» section or when adding a new username.
Analytics: A new guest access level for working with goals and segments
Until recently, there were two levels of guest access in Yandex Metrica:
- View-only: The user could view the tag settings and statistics, but couldn’t manage access to the tag, goals, and segments.
- Edit: The user could fully manage the tag, except deleting it or transferring it to another account.
We’ve added a new access level called Analytics. It’s an intermediate role between View-only and Edit. With this role, the user is allowed to create tag goals and segments, but can’t edit or remove them.
The Analytics role helps safeguard tag settings to avoid situations where a user, for instance, accidentally removes a critical setting. It’s also ideal for granting new team members access solely for creating ad campaign goals in Yandex Direct.
You can use the new role and an access filter at the same time. For example, you can grant a user analytics rights while restricting them to specific traffic sources. This way, a specialist can create subsegments in the tag and use it to set up retargeting in Yandex Direct.
Setup instructions
1. Go to the Access section.
2. Click "Add user".
3. Specify the user’s login, access rights, an access filter (if required), and leave a comment.
