Note. Child accounts are available in the Yandex Browser versions 22.11.1 and higher. If you can't see the account, update Yandex Browser and restart it.

What a child account is for

With a child account, you can control what's available for your child to view in Yandex Browser and protect them from unwanted content.

In a child account:

  • Yandex services offer age-appropriate content. You can set age limits in your Family account.

  • “Adult” content and sites with obscene language will be completely excluded from search results (even if the search query is explicitly aimed at finding such resources).

  • Yandex Music hides songs with obscene language.
  • To prevent the child from logging out of the account, logging out requires a code from an SMS that's sent to the parent's phone.

  • Incognito mode can't be enabled.

Tip. For more security, enable Caller ID on the child's device and protect them from unwanted calls.

Create

  1. Create a family account.

  2. Go to the Family page.

  3. Tap Create child account.
  4. Enter the child's name and date of birth. Tap Next.
  5. Create a login and a password for the child account. Tap Next.
  6. Enter the code from the SMS that will be sent to the phone linked to your account.
  7. Check the account details, select an age limit, and connect a family payment card if necessary. You can also do it later.
  8. Tap Finish.

To open the child account, select it when logging in.

Convert a child account to an adult account

Note. You can also convert a child account to an adult one. Only the administrator of a family group can change a child account into an adult one and the other way around. To configure the roles, follow the instructions.

You can convert a child account to an adult one. This action must be confirmed from the child account.

  1. Go to the Family tab.
  2. Under Group features, tap Roles → Convert child account to adult account.
  3. Tap the name of the child whose account you want to convert. A link will be copied to the clipboard. Send it to the child.
  4. Log in to the child account and open the link.
  5. Confirm that you want to convert the child account to an adult one.
Important. The phone number of the user who created the child account is usually linked to it. The phone number remains linked when the child account is converted to an adult one. Change that number to the new account owner's number — it's safer this way.

Move to another family group

You can transfer a child account from another family group to your own. This action must be confirmed from the child account and with an SMS code. The code is sent to the phone number of the user who created the child account.

  1. Go to the Family tab.
  2. Under Family group, tap Invite a family member.
  3. Choose how you want to send the invitation:
    • Share a link. The invitation link will be copied to the clipboard. Log in to the child account, follow the received link, and accept the invitation.
    • Send an SMS or email. Enter the email address that's linked to the child account. An invitation to the family group will be sent to that email. Accept it.
  4. An SMS confirmation code will be sent to the phone number of the person who created the child account. To accept an invitation to another family group, enter the code from the SMS.
