Map parameters

A theme is a color scheme that makes the screen darker or lighter. You can choose between light, dark, auto (changes at sunrise and sunset), or device themes.

To change the theme:

1. Tap  (profile picture). If you haven't logged in, tap .
2. Tap Settings → Map and interface.
3. Under Map type, select one of the map types:

   • Map is a diagram of roads, buildings, and other objects.
   • Satellite is an image of a particular area taken from space. This type of map doesn't show map items or house numbers.
   • Hybrid is a satellite image with more information added to it (street names, addresses, and so on).

1. Tap  (profile picture). If you haven't logged in, tap .
2. Tap Settings → Map and interface.
3. Tap Distance units.
4. Select a distance units: kilometers or miles.

Yandex Maps supports Azerbaijani, English, Kazakh, Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Uzbek. To select a language:

1. Tap  (profile picture). If you haven't logged in, tap .
2. Tap Settings → Map and interface.
3. Turn the Zoom buttons option on or off.

You can also change the map scale as follows:

• Pinch two fingers together to zoom out or pull two fingers apart to zoom in.
• Double-tap on the map to zoom in.

1. Tap  (profile picture). If you haven't logged in, tap .
2. Tap Settings → Map and interface.
3. Enable or disable the Scale ruler option.

You can use it to measure the distance between places:

If the 3D mode option is enabled, the scale ruler doesn't show on the route navigation screen.

To rotate the map with two fingers:

1. Tap  (profile picture). If you haven't logged in, tap .
2. Tap Settings → Map and interface.
3. Turn the Map rotation option on or off.

If you enable the map rotation option and rotate it, will appear on the map. The red arrow on the compass points to the north.

Enable this option to change the map scale using the volume buttons. This setting is only available on Android devices:

1. Tap  (profile picture). If you haven't logged in, tap .
2. Tap Settings → Map and interface.
3. Enable the Change map scale with volume buttons option.

Road alerts are points on the map that are associated with certain events (for example, accidents).

1. Tap  (profile picture). If you haven't logged in, tap .
2. Tap Settings → Map and interface → Road events.
3. Select where to display road events: On the map or On the route.
4. Enable or disable the Road alerts option.
5. If you have enabled the option, select road event types.

To protect your device's screen from burn-in, reduce the brightness of interface elements when moving along a route and in Navigator mode. Set up burn-in protection:

1. Tap  (profile picture). If you haven't logged in, tap .
2. Tap Settings → Map and interface → Burn-in protection.
3. Select a mode:

   • Turn on: Protection turns on when using the app.
   • Turn on after 40 minutes of driving: Protection turns on automatically if the app has been running for more than 40 minutes in the last 24 hours.
   • Turn off: Protection is disabled.
