Logging in to your email account in the browser

You can log in to your email account from any device connected to the internet. To do this, type mail.yandex.com into your browser's address bar, enter your Yandex username and password, and press Log in. If you use two-factor authentication, you'll need a one-time password generated by the Yandex Key app to log in. For more information, see the Log in to Yandex section.

Set up quick access to Yandex Mail

To access your mailbox quickly, bookmark the Yandex Mail page or make it your browser's home page.

You can also configure a new email page to open in Yandex Mail whenever you click an email address on any website. To do this, set up mailto link handling. How do I set it up?

Use no-password login

You can easily log in to Yandex Mail with a QR code. You'll need the Yandex app or Yandex Key app for that. Instruction

Use Incognito mode on other people's devices

If you went online from someone else's device and don't want the browser to save your username and password, use the in-browser Incognito mode.

Then type mail.yandex.com into the browser's address bar, enter your Yandex username and password, and press Log in.

Login through apps

If you want to log in to a Yandex email account, select Yandex, enter your username and password, and tap Log in.

To add an account from another email service, follow the relevant instructions:

  1. Select the desired service from the list of available mail services.
  2. Enter the login and password you use to access this service.
  3. Grant Yandex access to your email account. This will allow you to send emails using the Yandex Mail app. Yandex doesn't perform any actions with your email account without your consent.
  4. Tap Enter.

To receive emails from your Gmail account in the mobile app, set up an email importer following these instructions.

  1. Select Yandex in the list of email services.
  2. Enter your username and password. Enter your full email address (for example, login@qip.ru) as the login.
  3. Tap Enter.
  1. In the list of email services, select Other email service.
  2. In the Login field, enter your full email address (for example, cheshire.cat@forestmail.com).
  3. Tap Next.
  4. Enter your email password.
  5. Tap Enter.
Unable to determine the IMAP and SMTP settings

Make sure that you've entered the correct email address and password. If they're correct, but you keep seeing this message, it means the app can't automatically connect to your email account.

For manual setup, get the server addresses, encryption protocols, and authorization ports from your email provider. If the service uses passwords for external apps, you'll have to create an app password first and then enter it during the setup.

Tap Set up manually and set the parameters. For example:

Incoming mail server (IMAP)

  • IMAP server: imap.example.com (or imap.ya.ru if you're not in Russia).
  • Port: 993.
  • SSL encryption: Enable.

Outgoing mail server (SMTP)

  • SMTP server: smtp.example.com.
  • Port: 465.
  • SSL encryption: Enable.

Switching between email accounts

If you use multiple email accounts (for example, a personal and a work account), you can add them all and easily switch between them.

Tip

In the Yandex Mail app, you can add accounts from multiple email services, such as Mail.Ru or Outlook.com.

You can select an account in Yandex Mail, Yandex Calendar, and other Yandex services that support this feature. This account is considered the primary account: it is used to authorize you in services that don't support switching yet.

You can add no more than 15 accounts to the list. To remove an account from the list, switch to that account and click Log out of Yandex services in the menu. The current username disappears from the list and you automatically switch to the next one.

To add email accounts in the app:

  1. Pull the screen to the right.
  2. At the top of the screen, tap the plus sign.

To switch to another email account, do the following:

  1. Pull the screen to the right.
  2. Tap on the image of the relevant account.

You can also switch to another account from your device's home screen:

  1. Tap and hold the Yandex Mail app icon.
  2. Select the desired account from the list that opens.

Logging out of your email account

Open the account menu in the top right corner of the screen and click Log out of Yandex services.

If you forgot to log out of Yandex Mail on someone else's device, open Yandex ID, go to Logins and devices, and click Log out on all devices.

Alert

For further access to Yandex services, you will need to re-enter your username and password on each device.

Temporarily turn off an email account

To temporarily disable one of your mailboxes, Just follow these steps:

  1. Pull the screen to the right.
  2. Tap Settings (under the list of folders and labels).
  3. Select the account you want to disable.
  4. Disable the Use this address option.

Log out of your account

You can log out of your account. Just follow these steps:

  1. Pull the screen to the right.
  2. Tap Log out (under the list of folders and labels).

Delete an email account from the app

To permanently delete a mailbox from the app, follow these steps:

  1. Open your smartphone settings.
  2. Under Accounts and archiving, select Accounts.
  3. Tap on the account you want to delete.
  4. Tap Delete account and confirm the deletion.

Method 1

  1. Pull the screen to the right.
  2. Tap and hold the image of the account.
  3. Confirm logout of your account.

Method 2

  1. Pull the screen to the right.
  2. Tap Log out.
  3. Confirm logout of your account.

How can I change my password or the answer to my security question

Your Yandex ID account is a one-stop gateway to all Yandex services.

To change your password, click Update password under Login methods on the Security page. For information on other login methods, see Log in to Yandex in Yandex ID Support.

If you have an email address on e1.ru or e-mail.ru, try restoring your email password in your personal account on the portal's website or contact its admins. If you have a QIP account, unfortunately, you can't recover your password.

Alert

After your change your password, all sessions under your username on other computers are automatically terminated.

If you forgot your password, follow the password recovery procedure and specify your Yandex username or email address. You can recover your password by answering the security question, getting an SMS sent to your secure phone number, or using a secondary email address.

To change your security question or answer, open the Security page, go to Recovery methods, and click Security question.

I can’t log into mail

I have an email address on QIP, e1.ru, or e-mail.ru.

If you have a QIP account, unfortunately, you can't recover your password. Yandex Mail doesn't have the data necessary to restore the password for your QIP account.

If you have an email address on e1.ru or e-mail.ru, try restoring your email password in your personal account on the portal's website or contact its admins.

Yandex freezes the email account if it hasn't been used for over 24 months. See Freezing inactive mailboxes for information on what to do.

Sometimes a Yandex Mail page doesn't load and you see error messages:

  • “An error occurred”.

  • “Try refreshing the browser tab or try again in a few minutes.”

  • “Please wait...”.

  • “Loading a page takes a long time”.

  • “Try refreshing the page or using the light version of Mail”.

Here are some common reasons for it:

Extensions block Yandex Mail

Mail may work incorrectly due to the browser add-ons and extensions. To check if this is the reason, temporarily disable them. If Yandex Mail works incorrectly because of an ad blocking or antivirus extension, add Yandex Mail as an exception to the extension.

You are using an outdated browser

An outdated browser may not support the technologies used for fast and convenient page loading. Install the latest version of your browser.

Internet speed decreased

Close all browser tabs except Yandex Mail. Turn off applications that use the internet and refresh the page.

There is a problem with network connection

To check this, open Yandex Mail using mobile internet. If no errors occur, contact your provider's support team. If you use work email, tell your system administrator about the problem.

The wrong compatibility mode is selected in Internet Explorer 8 and higher.

Compatibility mode in Internet Explorer 8 and higher may cause errors.

Set the Browser mode and Document mode to match your browser version.

  1. Press the F12 button or choose Developer tools in the menu.

  2. Click the icon and choose your browser version.

    If you use Internet Explorer of 11 and higher, choose Edge.

Check whether you have internet access (the Yandex Mail app doesn't open when you're offline):

  • Are you connected to a mobile network?
  • Do you have sufficient phone credit?
  • Can you use another internet connection, like Wi-Fi?
