# Images in ads
You can add an image to your ad in a unified performance campaign (including ads for mobile apps), in the Campaign Wizard, or in a Quick start campaign. The right images attract more attention to your ad and help users quickly grasp your offer.
Images are displayed in ad networks ([YAN](https://yandex.com/support/direct/en/general/yan.md) and external ad exchanges) and the [product gallery](https://yandex.com/support/direct/en/product-gallery/about.md) in Yandex Search.
The appearance of an ad containing an image will differ depending on the campaign type:

Since June 30, Text & Image ads in unified performance campaigns are available for editing only. For campaigns that previously relied on Text & Image ads, create [combinatorial](https://yandex.com/support/direct/en/unified-performance-campaign/create-comb-ad.md) ads.

## How to add an image
### Unified performance campaign {#upc}
You can upload images when creating or editing an ad in a unified performance campaign. Under **Images**, click **Add**. Use an image from the site or a new image:
- Upload the image.
- Specify the link.
- Select from the previously uploaded images.

**Technical requirements for images**
- When the aspect ratio is between 1 : 1 and 3 : 4 / 4 : 3, each side can range between 450 and 5000 pixels.
- When the aspect ratio is 16 : 9, image size can range between 1080 × 607 and 5000 × 2812 pixels.
- Maximum file size is 10 MB.
- Format: JPG, PNG or GIF (only the first frame will be used).
### Campaign Wizard {#campaign-master}
You can upload images when creating or editing a campaign in the Campaign Wizard.
**Technical requirements for images**
- When the aspect ratio is between 1 : 1 and 3 : 4 / 4 : 3, each side can range between 450 and 5000 pixels.
- When the aspect ratio is 16 : 9, image size can range between 1080 × 607 and 5000 × 2812 pixels.
- Maximum file size: 4 MB.
- Supported formats include JPG, PNG, or GIF (only the first frame is used), except for app promotion, which only accepts JPG and PNG.

To make your ads perform better, we recommend using images that are between 1080 and 5000 pixels in size.

After you upload your image, you'll need to choose a format. The size ratio changes depending on the format: for standard picture, it ranges from 1:1 to 4:3/3:4, for widescreen picture, it's 16:9. Check the visible area of the image. Click **Save** on the page with the selected format.
We recommend creating two options for each ad: one with a standard image and one with a widescreen image. This way, you'll be able to cover more platforms. If you only have one image, upload it in 4:3 format.
To successfully pass moderation, the image must meet the [ad formatting requirements](https://yandex.com/support/direct/en/moderation/ad-rules.md#pics).
The image may be reduced or cropped to fit an ad unit when served on a particular site.
You can add images to multiple ads in a unified performance campaign at once using [XLS/XLSX files](https://yandex.com/support/direct/en/alternative-interfaces/xls-interface.md) or [Direct Commander](https://yandex.com/support/direct/en/alternative-interfaces/direct-commander.md). To do this, use [bulk actions with ads](https://yandex.com/support/direct/en/campaigns/multi-edit.md) or the [Yandex Direct API](https://yandex.com/support/direct/en/alternative-interfaces/api.md).
Impression statistics for ads with images are available in [Report Wizard](https://yandex.com/support/direct/en/statistics/new-reports-wizard.md). You can see how well a particular image performs using the **Image** or **Image name** dimensions.

## Changing an image's aspect ratio {#ratio}
To ensure your creative looks good across different placements, use the [AI creative editor](https://yandex.com/support/direct/en/products-image-ads/editor.md) to adjust its aspect ratio. Available aspect ratios are 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, and 3:4.
To change the aspect ratio:
1. Under **AI-creative editor**, in the **Change aspect ratio** tab, upload an image by clicking **Select file** or select an image using the line below.
1. Select a new aspect ratio and click **Apply**. The AI algorithms preserve the image's key elements and carefully extend the background, ensuring the ad looks good across different formats.

On average, changing the aspect ratio takes less than a minute, though wait times may vary depending on the number of users in the queue. If the generation process is expected to take longer than a minute, you'll see a notification with the estimated wait time.
Don't close the editor window during generation, or the process will be canceled.
1. Add the generated creative:
* To an ad by clicking **Add**.
* To a list of images selected for an ad by clicking **Select**. Use this option if you want to generate more images.
