Excellent museum with a nearly endless collection of Mammals, Birds, Insects and Reptiles. I have visited twice and still saw many new things. Highlights: Mammoths - significantly larger than African elephants. It is hard to imagine humans hunting them unless there was no other source of food. It would have been very dangerous. Blue Whale at the entrance. Surrounding the Blue Whale is a very good collection of Cetaceans The Bird collection is the best I have seen anywhere in Europe, Asia or USA The Museum is located just across the Dvortsoviy Bridge. There are three Museums clustered together. Zoological Museum, Kunstkamera and the Museum Model of the Ancient world. The Zoological Museum will appeal to almost everyone and is highly recommended. The Kunstkamera is very interesting, but some exhibits would appeal more to those with a morbid interest in two headed calves, human birth defeats and other abnormalities. The Zoological Museum is too large to combine with a visit to Kunstkamera or Ancient World museum. Allow a minimum of two hours. The Natural History Museum in London also has a Blue Whale at the entrance. St. Petersburg Zoological Museum compares very favourably though the museum in London has an impressive dinosaur and fossil collection. Overseas students should try showing their student cards, they may get a discount. It is recommended to buy tickets online as there is queue at the ticket office. Opens at 11am, closed Tuesdays and sometimes on Wednesdays. Use Yandex Translator to translate signs that are not in English. I tried to book an English speaking tour but there was no response. 10/10 - nobody would be disappointed after visiting

Коллекция экспонатов огромная,дети в восторге,но взрослым видно в каком ужасном состоянии чучела многих животных.Да билеты недорогие,но хотелось бы чтобы чучела животных были обновлены,для такого города как Петербург можно изыскать средства,тем более проходимость в музее огромная.

A very interesting scientific museum that has many interesting topics unfortunately we had to use google translate for every part of and it was a lot we had to leave before we covered the whole place , all the guides were doing everything in Russian and the stories seemed to interesting but but but 🫣we hope one day we could find books or atleast one person who can explain since we were a group of 8 and we don’t mind paying . It’s a great learning experience for adults and kids my kids were so excited seeing every animal on the planet. Actually if it had some translation ( English or Arabic) I would rate it the best in the world. Tickets we 450 for adults and 400 for kids honestly it was worth it ; the wait was not so long we spent 2.5 hours then it got hot . So worth the visit one of the best we have seen in Russia
