The Church of St. Sophia is the oldest in Nessebar and dates back to the 5th-6th centuries. The temple is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and in the list of 100 tourist sites in Bulgaria. The church is located in a place that was supposedly the center of an ancient city. In the 13th century, the church was looted by the Venetians during a campaign against the Bulgarian Empire, and many relics were taken to Venice to the church of San Salvatore.

One of the most beautiful churches in old Nessebar, especially in the evening, is wonderfully illuminated. Nearby, and throughout Nessebar, there are many cozy shops and restaurants. And there are many more interesting buildings. The feeling of a holiday is created by the warm weather, ancient streets, cheerful crowds of strolling guests. At the entrance to the city, a piper meets (I guarantee for 12 years of his work), he plays beautifully! You can walk around the whole island along the shore, there is a good road with views of the sea and Sunny Beach, and St. Vlas. I come every time I come, and I never get bored! It's true, all this is just a summer experience.

Today, the metropolis is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Church of St. Sophia in the old center of Nessebar was built at the end of the 5th century on the site of the former ancient agora.
