The zoo in Palice is one of the oldest in Europe, founded in 1949. The purpose of the zoo is to revive tourism in Palice after the Second World War, while the resorts on the lake were going through hard times. The zoo area is 10 hectares (+5 hectares of agricultural and forest lands), and in Belgrade it is 7 hectares. The zoo contains about 800 animals of 150 different species. The zoo's territory is also a botanical garden, which has more than 270 species of trees and shrubs in its collection. The animal enclosures are large and close to their natural habitat. There are bridges and viewing platforms for better viewing of animals. I really liked the zoo. All the animals I saw looked happy with their lives. We had 2 hours to go to the zoo. It's not enough, there's no time to stand around and watch the animals.

A great zoo, a huge number of animals, just a delight :) the entrance costs 400 dinars per adult, there are a couple of cafes and restrooms on the territory. It costs 2-3 hours of leisurely walking.
