If you love fine art and find yourself in Minsk, be sure to visit the National Art Museum. He's amazing. From the architecture of the building itself to the collection of art objects. In 2 hours, I managed to get around barely a third of the museum. I managed to pay attention to the collection of Russian iconography of the 15th-16th century. There are very unusual exhibits. Among the collection of Russian paintings of the 19th century, you can see the author's version of Vasnetsov's painting "Three Princesses of the Underworld". It differs significantly from the canvas in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, but the style and the search for the author are absolutely clear.
Contemporary art of Belarus is also of interest.
In my opinion, this museum is one of the main assets of Belarus and Minsk. To put it bluntly, the reality exceeded all my expectations of the place. An incredibly rich collection of Russian paintings! A wonderful collection of Belarusian art, painting and sculpture, up to modern. The museum building itself is also wonderful, or rather, there are several of them: the main building, which you look at from the street, is a monumental building, the main staircase inside is like a scaled-down copy from the Russian Museum, and the halls resemble the Tretyakov Gallery: there is also ceiling lighting, but not as aggressive as in the Tretyakov Gallery, glare on the canvases is less but there is clearly not enough light, some canvases turn out to be in semi-darkness. The hanging of the paintings is dense, in 2 rows, the atmosphere is very cozy and semi-domestic. There is a strong feeling that there are so many exhibits that the room is simply overflowing with masterpieces! And they say there are also 30 thousand paintings in the storerooms! That's good! And when you move from the main old building to the new one, you open your mouth in amazement: such a bright, exquisite museum space has been created! it looks like an Italian palace, with stairs, light atriums, a courtyard, art lectures and probably concerts are held here, there is a grand piano. And you also go through the glass gallery to the exhibition building, temporary exhibitions are held here! The main building is still hosting the exhibition "Repin and his disciples", just like in the New Jerusalem Museum in the Moscow region, it's all for the 180th anniversary of Repin. The Minsk Museum contains paintings from the collections of this museum and from Vitebsk. A wonderful exhibition! We planned to visit the museum for an hour and a half, spent 3 hours, realized that we couldn't cover everything at once anyway, and we'll be happy to come back again! I think this place is a must-visit in Minsk, pleasure is guaranteed!) The staff is very good-natured and sociable, they will tell you a lot of interesting things. The overall impression of the museum is a delight!
It turned out to be quite interesting)) Different painting techniques. There is a hall dedicated to military topics. There is also a hall where icons and church utensils are located (a little). I was interested in one point, but I don't know on a permanent basis or not.. I noticed children in one of the halls who were allowed to draw (there was a film on the floor and the children laid out sheets and paints there) This pleased me, as the children are busy with creativity, and adults could safely enjoy the art)) I plan to return there, but now with the children))
