Emirates . Abu Dhabi .
And yes, friends, there is a real Louvre in the Emirates.
How did it happen?
Abu Dhabi is a legendary museum that has become a point of attraction for fans of history, architecture and painting from all over the world.
It became an art museum in Abu Dhabi,
a branch of the Louvre in Paris. Really.
The Louvre in Paris has sold the United Arab Emirates the right to use its name in a future branch of the museum for 400 million euros.
The total cost of building a branch in Abu Dhabi is estimated at one billion euros. The agreement on the creation of a new museum was signed on March 6, 2007 in the capital of the UAE, the France Presse news agency reported.
The museum was opened in 2017 after long negotiations and huge investments.
The collection of the Louvre Abu Dhabi includes exhibits from various eras and civilizations, including paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, Picasso, Van Gogh, Manet, Bellini.
The museum building is a synthesis of European and Arab traditions: it has an openwork glass dome, snow-white walls and geometric channels with water.
You walk around the museum as if in some kind of fantastic space, You can stay here all day and come back the next day.
When you leave the museum , this incredible openwork roof and the realization that the museum stands on water . Everything is unusual ! Achievements of science and implementation into reality .
The Louvre Museum is located in Abu Dhabi on the island of Saadiyat in the Persian Gulf.
You can get here by car in 10 minutes from the center of Abu Dhabi or by bus 94. We took a taxi,
To rent an audio guide (25 drx), we did not meet in Russian, but if you need another language, take with you an identity document (for collateral).
Admission is free for children under 13 years old.
Enjoy. I wish you a pleasant time.
The Louvre in Abu Dhabi is an amazing museum with a rich collection of art: real masterpieces of sculpture, paintings, dishes, frescoes. The museum is worth visiting for all art lovers and connoisseurs! You need to put in about 4 hours for a visit. The museum has free Wi-Fi and an audio guide. It is very convenient and interesting. The French living room has become my favorite exhibit for me personally. The museum has a lot of interactive content, temporary exhibitions and an exciting children's museum (I have not seen such solutions for demonstrating art in any museum - it is really fascinating and innovative)
Excellent ultramodern museum space. It can be good for adults and children, lovers of photo shoots and lovers of beauty. The art gallery features works by Sisley, Manet, Monet, Chagall and others. A special place is occupied by halls with ethnographic exhibits telling about the history of settlement of local lands. All conditions have been created for children from 2 to 80 years old to spend the whole day in space as useful and playful as possible. It is recommended to visit Abu Dhabi 100%.
A stylish, beautiful and modern museum. It is worth coming here even for the sake of the building itself to take pictures and enjoy the beautiful views. Be sure to download the Louvre app, so it will be easier to navigate and read or listen about the exhibits in your native language. The Louvre cafe is very expensive, I think that cafes at museums should have more loyal prices. The souvenir shop is also very expensive, we looked at it and left, although we planned to take something there as a souvenir. I was very impressed by the children's Louvre. In modern museums, it is customary to pay attention to children's development, respect for this! The game "Mars" was also impressed, the child was delighted!
A beautiful museum with a beautiful building. The museum itself is not very large and consists of 11/12 halls. Most of the halls are occupied by sculptures, frescoes, coins, etc. There are not many paintings. The main feature of the museum is located inside on the street - it is a beautiful space and an unusual roof.
It is good to go to the museum in the afternoon, when the sun is high and the sun's rays pass through the roof. By evening, these rays are much less.
You can get into the interior of the museum, where everyone likes to be photographed, only through the purchase of a ticket and the museum itself.
The 94th bus runs from the city to the museum. Stop right at the museum. This is his ultimate goal. You can then take the same bus to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque
We visited the museum in April 2024, it is very spacious, there is a lot of air and, thanks to this, it is generally quite comfortable to be in the museum. A gorgeous audio guide, you can download to your phone and listen while viewing the exhibits! There is an exit to the street, the children's museum is interactive! A gift shop, there is also a place to eat! A great place, it will be interesting for everyone
A wonderful place! I recommend it!
13 halls! 13!!!
The most diverse: paintings, sculptures, carpets, mummies, rooms...at the end, go out into the courtyard of the Louvre with its gorgeous roof and a view of the bay
+ free luggage storage, we leave our suitcases, backpacks and go for a walk
+ free audio guide, download the program by QR code and walk at your own pace, listen to stories about each exhibit
+ leather sofas with chargers everywhere
+ there is also a cafe and a souvenir shop
There is a nice park nearby, the embankment is cool, and there is also a bus stop nearby
...you can Google, look for a free bus to the Louvre, there is definitely one, depending on where you start from....we arrived on the free bus Dubai-Louvre and goes back..
The price of a ticket to the Louvre is $ 18, it's worth it.
The building itself and the exposition are magnificent🔥
Modern architecture, unlike anything else: the art of straight lines under an openwork dome, a combination of white-gray with blue waters of pools and the sky.
13 halls. At first it seems that the exposition is sparse, the halls are half empty. But then you realize that everything is exactly as it should be, so as not to overload with information and present each exhibit in the best possible light. The collection is very diverse: sculptures, ceramics, sacred writings, paintings, tapestries, porcelain, from antiquity to the present. Monet and Manet (like a cruel joke, their paintings hang side by side), Chagall, Picasso, Kandinsky, Renoir. There are very cool interactive panels in each hall telling about each exhibit. There is a separate museum for children, a cafe, and a gift shop. Huge parking lot. I recommend taking 4 hours to visit. The Louvre deserves it.
P.S. I almost forgot: tickets for two cost $ 40.
We visited the Louvre on the island of Saadiyat Emirates during a tour of Abu Dhabi. It is the first multicultural museum in the Arab world. The Louvre collection includes exhibits from various eras and civilizations, including paintings by Leonardo da Vinci ("Savior of the World"), Picasso, Gauguin, Manet, Magritte, Bellini, Chagall..
I am absolutely delighted with what I have seen. Of course, they passed strict control, the frame, the bags were translucent, even water could not be carried. There was only 1.5 hours of time. It is critically small to carefully inspect the expositions. The halls seem confusing the first time. While you look, while you read through the "translator" the title, the author.. The guide does not accompany you around the museum, only tells you during the trip.
Wonderful impressions of touching great authors. Must-visit!
I would like to share my enthusiastic review of the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum. This place simply amazes with its splendor and variety of exhibits. I especially liked the architecture of the building, which creates an amazing atmosphere of the illusion of light and shadow. The expositions are so diverse that every visitor will find something here that will interest him. I also liked the organization of the museum, all the exhibits are well lit and information about them is available in several languages, which makes visiting the museum comfortable for foreign tourists. I highly recommend visiting this museum to those who are interested in art and culture, you will definitely get an unforgettable experience.
At the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, I was struck by exhibits from various cultures and eras, but especially impressed by the collections of ancient art. I was fascinated by ancient Greek sculptures, the splendor of paintings and sculptures from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, as well as an amazing collection of Islamic art. I saw the works of Michelangelo, David and Vinci, which have always fascinated me in books and magazines, and was delighted to be able to see them live. I was also struck by the masterpieces of Islamic art: ceramics, textiles, precious stones and pearls, which demonstrate the fine work of craftsmen and the richness of the culture of the Islamic world.
At the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, I was struck by the historical depth and significance of the works of art. Especially impressive were the ancient Greek sculptures, which showed the evolution of ancient Greek art and its influence on modern culture. The impression was made by historical paintings and sculptures of the Renaissance and Baroque, which are important achievements of European art, reflecting historical, religious and cultural trends. I saw paintings composed by great artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, and realized their greatness and influence on the development of art.
I was also struck by the collection of Islamic art, which is an important part of the world heritage. These works of art not only reflect the skill and talent of the masters, but also convey the unique historical, religious and cultural aspects of the Islamic world. I saw magnificent examples of Arabic ceramics, exquisite textiles, objects inlaid with precious stones and pearls, and it made me think about the amazing cultural diversity in the world.
One of the most impressive aspects of visiting the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum was the awareness of the connection between art and history, as well as understanding how much of what we see today has historical roots and deep cultural roots.
Exhibits of ancient and modern times. The museum is cool, there are toilets, recliners, strollers for the disabled. If you are a fan of art, it is better to take a separate tour or come by taxi yourself. The complex tour takes only 1.5 hours to visit the museum. This is not enough if you need to look at everything, and not just run through the halls. The area around and the Louvre building itself also deserves attention.Very impressed .I think they will come back again .
An interesting location for art lovers and connoisseurs. As a person far from him, I was pleased with the architecture of the building itself, the location on the water and the beautiful photos inside and against the background of the Louvre. My wife was pleased with the exhibits of the museum. Plus, at the time of our trip, a temporary Cartier exhibition was held on the territory of the museum, where we looked at the expensive precious products of this house, presented as a gift at one time to various powerful people of this world. It was interesting...
The place is more interesting as a phenomenon than as a museum. The building itself is impressive, the concept of building a museum cluster almost in the desert is impressive (a huge Sheikh Zayed museum and a branch of the Guggenheim Museum are being built nearby), but not the internal content. The exposition is rather weak and terribly far from the real Louvre.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is more of a theme park for tourists, there are no masterpieces of world art here, as well as Arab visitors. But in order not to get bored, there are restaurants and a rather interesting interactive children's museum.
Overall, the place deserves attention
The most beautiful place, impressive architecture, beautiful and swimming pools overlooking the sea and architecture are freaky. I recommend coming at sunset very beautifully.
An excellent European-level museum, there are main expositions, but it's cool when there are visiting exhibitions.
Large free parking.
A wonderful museum, a very pleasant space, modern design, lots of space. The exposition is interesting, there are many different eras, trends, both in painting and sculpture, there are interesting and recognizable works of great creators. It is better to download the audio guide and you can walk on your own. Tickets can be bought online or on the spot, there will be no difference in price. Children are free of charge. There is also an interesting space museum for children, very interactive and informative (in English, French or Arabic). A place worth visiting.
I was pleasantly surprised to visit the Louvre Abu Dhabi. The art exposition was magnificent, each exhibit was amazing and beautiful. The architecture of the building is simply amazing. The whole experience of visiting the museum was unforgettable, and I would definitely recommend visiting the Louvre Abu Dhabi to anyone who is in the region.
This is probably the rare case when a building is more interesting than its contents. The museum's collection is interesting, the museum has a lot of space and really interesting exhibits. I was pleased with the section about Egypt and the ancient Sumerians - it was impressive. In this Louvre there were paintings by Monet, Manet, Kandinsky, Chagall, from antique objects to modern art. Take a look into each room, navigation through the museum is not always linear, sometimes you need to notice branches and side passages so as not to miss anything. Be sure to go up under the carved dome, they showed projections on the walls here in the evening, it was magical. By the way, you can go under the dome without visiting the museum. As a result, I liked it there, but Russian and Italian museums still win in my eyes in terms of the richness and importance of collections.
It is required to visit. Spacious halls, interesting exhibitions. Well, the building itself: magnificent, unusual. It needs to be seen. We bought tickets through the Sputnik organization. But if you come to the opening, as we do, then there are few people, you pass quickly, buy a ticket, leave your backpack in the luggage room and enjoy the architecture and works of art.
An interesting architectural structure, both externally and internally. Huge and high halls, and a very modest number of exhibits in them. There are also few tourists. The museum has Wi-Fi with the ability to download an audio guide for free and informatively visit the halls of the museum. It is located on an island and surrounded by water. Only positive emotions remained👍
There are several interesting paintings, the halls are small, there are quite a lot of visitors. The hall of modern art causes laughter, it is funny to look at the rusty pots hanging on the wall in the form of some kind of exposition and paintings of the level of children from kindergarten. There is only one cafe on the territory of the museum, there is a long queue to it, you need to stand for 30 minutes to buy coffee with a bun. Then the next entertainment is to find a place to sit down to drink coffee, there are no tables. Sitting on the stairs of the Louvre, people eat sandwiches and take selfies, there is nothing else to do there. There is also a restaurant on site, but it is always busy, and tables need to be booked in advance. The most beautiful photos are taken at sunset, when the sun sets and illuminates the open territory of the Louvre with its rays. Well, at 18 o'clock the show of the dons begins - they rise from the territory of the Louvre and soar over the bay, lining up in bizarre Arabic letters and shapes. The show repeats every 1.5 hours, the last one at 20:30 local time. For which I took off the star - it is almost impossible to leave here later, there is not enough taxi, there is a live queue for an hour, in general, it will not be possible to leave without adventures from here, and you will have to be pretty nervous in search of transport services.
An unforgettable experience!
The museum building itself is a real work of art, and its unique roof creates the effect of a floating heavenly oasis.
The collection of works of art is truly impressive: from ancient artifacts to modern works. Each room has its own unique atmosphere, and you can spend hours immersed in world cultures and times.
A gorgeous place!
A must-visit!
The tickets are cheap, the place is amazing.
Even if you are not interested in art, just wander around, look at the turtles (swimming in the courtyard).
Courtyard, a view restaurant, many art objects.
And I'm not talking about the collection at all!
A wonderful place to visit in Abu Dhabi! Starting from the architecture of the building, and ending with the exposition and thematic exhibitions. You can spend endless time here! The hall is very interesting, where exhibits are shown in detail on a huge screen and a story is told. I will definitely visit again!
A compact modern museum, many interactive stands, Wi-Fi everywhere, I really liked the collections of exhibits by time, because in one room there are things and works of art from all corners of the globe created at the same time. It's very informative. Admission is free for children under 18.
An amazing museum on the water!
A diverse exposition. There are cafes and restaurants nearby and inside. The building itself is very beautiful and unusual. In the evening, you can see a show of quadrocopters nearby on the embankment.
I recommend you to visit!
A wonderful museum! Futuristic building design. It 's spacious and cool . The international exposition. Paintings, sculptures, and signs of everyday life from ancient times to our time are presented.
I recommend everyone to visit!
A VERY, VERY, VERY COOL PLACE!!
WONDERFUL EXHIBITIONS!! I WAS AMAZED AT HOW COOL IT IS THERE! there are a lot of sculptures, paintings and all this is very beautiful! I strongly advise you to visit the Louvre, you will like it)
A great museum. Exhibits of antiquity of deep and modernity. The museum is cool, there are toilets, recliners, strollers for the disabled. If you are a fan of art, it is better to take a separate tour or come by taxi yourself. The complex tour takes only 1.5 hours to visit the museum. This is not enough if you need to consider everything, and not just run through the halls. The area around and the Louvre building itself also deserves attention.
A wonderful museum. There are many interesting expansions. A kind of roof covering of the museum. There is also a kind of rehabilitation center for turtles. Antique paintings, sculptures, ceramics, frescoes. Everything is impressive.
This is really the most beautiful building in the Middle East! The exposition is simply amazing, where you can see the works of Leonardo da Vinci and Claude Monet. And there is also a great museum for children, they will definitely not get bored there.
It was the main impression of the year for me. I am very glad that I was able to visit this museum.
The place is wonderful. There are many interesting exhibits. There was little time to visit the museum - this is the only disadvantage!
At the exit, you can buy a guide in Russian, souvenirs. You can download the museum's app and listen to the audio guide.
There are a lot of amazing exhibits inside. Definitely ready to visit!!
I really liked the children's museum with the passage of quests and tasks. The children are delighted. At the same time, admission is free for children.
There is free parking.
The exposition itself is not large, exhibits from antiquity to modern art are presented. For adults, you can go for a check mark at a time.
Louvre Abu DHabi is amazing.
@louvreabudhabi
The latest addition on Saadiyat Island in the UAE Capital Abu Dhabi is a real cultural treasure trove. The revolutionary Louvre of Abu Dhabi, the result of a unique collaboration between the Louvre in Paris and the UAE government, contains hundreds of priceless works by the greatest artists in history. The Louvre Abu Dhabi building has many water channels and a huge openwork dome. This creates the feeling that the museum is located as if under the open sky in the open sea.
Kayaking is possible around the museum.
Meditative music is playing in the halls.
The architecture is amazing.
Externally, the building is very impressive! And the idea is commercially profitable - to open a branch of the Louvre in the UAE. Also, a couple more museums will open in this location soon. I'll be waiting. The exposition is interesting, but small, which, as I understand it, led to filling one hall, they had to mix different civilizations. Therefore, there is a vinaigrette effect when, for example, the Sumerians are mixed with Egypt and China.
The Louvre in Abu Dhabi is an oriental jewelry box set against the background of the sea, the design and architectural solution of the building itself is stunning in its lightness and modernity. The collection is collected in different directions of art, but it is no less valuable.
I recommend you to visit even if you are in Dubai, only 1.5 hours away.
Always beautiful. Because of the compact size, I like it here more than in Paris. I'm sorry) There is a lot of water inside, the building is unique! Light. Air. I recommend everyone to visit! We are there every year and every year there is a new exhibition. In January 2023, the Impressionists! In January 20/4, Cartier. Gorgeous!!!
An interesting place.
Initially, there were a lot of expectations.
In fact, many of the exhibits are not particularly familiar, and do not arouse interest.
The Mona Lisa at the entrance is good.
I liked the space under the dome, very modern.
Among the advantages: free Wi-Fi, you can get from the parking lot by electric car (not driving, of course), a turtle or several swims (video only one).
Perhaps 1.5 hours as part of the tour is not enough and a lot more time is needed.
In general, I recommend it!
According to the collection, of course, this is not the Louvre in Paris, but there are many interesting things in the design, in the concept. Beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, modern architecture and turtles swim from the rehabilitation center, which is part of the museum complex.
One of the reasons for a trip to the Emirates, or rather to Abu Dhabi, is to visit this museum.
It was not possible to buy tickets online, UnionPay did not pass either on the website or during a visit (maybe you should have tried inserting a card). Paid in cash.
There are not many exhibits, but they are all real, not new models, nor copies, but originals. It's a strange concept for organizing them into halls, but on the whole it's interesting.
The museum has a personal WiFi, downloaded the app and were able to enjoy stories about the exhibits in Russian. Some of the halls have already changed expositions and not all information has been updated in the application. But overall very good.
There is a cafe on site, with adequate prices and delicious coffee.
The Cartier exhibition is wonderful)))
An iconic place, a must-visit for every tourist. An incredible project combining modern technology and history
There are a lot of tourists, but there is no sense of crowding. After the tour, you can sit in a cafe or restaurant on the territory with a beautiful view. There is a handmade souvenir shop (expensive). There is wi-fi.
A wonderful place for walking and relaxing. The unusual appearance, wonderful interiors of the museum. There is a lot of space for getting to know each piece of art in more detail!
An interesting place. The building is made in the shape of a turtle with an original domed roof of 8 layers.
We were there on an excursion, including a visit to the mosque and the palace. Therefore, there is very little time to take a good look at everything.
As we were told, the exposition changes frequently. There are statues, paintings, tapestries, and ritual items here. There is also an exhibition of contemporary artists.
A very beautiful museum, of course. The architects have worked with the space and now the whole museum is simply permeated with air and sun. Actually, the museum exposition is not particularly large, so you will not get tired of walking. It is better to come less on weekends, then you will have to look for a parking place for a long time.
An incredibly pleasant place. The sea was especially impressive — very azure and calm. It's nice to sit on the steps on the territory and look at the city and the azure. I also liked the museum itself — an interesting concept, aesthetics and visual cleanliness. Here the entire exposition is dedicated to the unification of humanity through art. And there is also a children's interactive zone, where my daughter really liked it. I recommend it to everyone, be sure to visit.
It's just an amazing place, starting with the doors, moving on to an amazing architectural solution and ending with those despicable paintings that are on display.
I advise everyone to visit this place not only because of the love of art, but also to find themselves in the future ....
The roof of this structure is designed in such a way that the structure is floating and seems weightless like the crown of trees, and the sun is stunningly beautifully dispersed inside the building.
A unique solution in plumbing, will amaze everyone ....
The design itself is made in white with a monolith and glass-an insanely beautiful combination of the future.
I advise you to allocate at least half a day to study this art object. And if you are ready to call a taxi yourself before closing, then.k. all transport stops coming to the museum.
The building itself impresses with its scale and modern architecture. The exposure is still weak. There are several works by Manet and Kandinsky. But, given how the UAE treats all its ideas, very soon the Louvre will attract guests not only with the name, by the way, leased for 50 years.
We liked the museum, 12 halls for studying, a space by the water, a children's exhibition, we got to the Cartier exhibition. We went around studying and translating all the signs. The price tag is average, about 3,200 came out for 2 adults and 2 children. You need to arrive early, there are huge queues by 12 o'clock.
If you gather in Abu Dhabi, be sure to visit the Louvre. This is not just a piece of the famous French museum, it is a separate original stunning museum that will take you from ancient times to the present day and the future. Score 10 out of 10!!! I will come back again with pleasure!
An incredibly beautiful museum! It is very interesting and delightful! Free Wi-Fi, world-class exhibits, a very pleasant and noble atmosphere! I highly recommend you to visit.
