The Temple of Heaven is one of the iconic places not only in Beijing, but throughout China. This is not just one temple, one building, it is a whole historical complex consisting of the actual Temple of Heaven, gates, trails and other buildings. I'm not the biggest fan of guided sightseeing, but I'd still recommend an organized tour here. At least it will be useful if you are visiting Southeast Asia or China or Beijing for the first time. The guide will tell you about the peculiarities of Chinese temple complexes and, of course, will tell you directly about the Temple of Heaven. Otherwise, how else will you see the path that the emperor walked along to bring gifts to Heaven for three days? How do you learn about the symbolism of each element of the building (and then secretly start counting all the nines around). How will you encounter real feng shui as a part of great Chinese culture?.. Of course, there are a lot of people in the Temple of Heaven, but the complex is so large that no one interferes with each other. Separately, I would like to mention an interesting practice (which began only 7 years ago) of dressing in national costumes and coming to be photographed and not only (!) to the main Beijing attractions. The costumes are rented out; they are usually taken by girls, but sometimes they convince their young men to wear costumes as well. You can only wear costumes from two dynasties (unfortunately, I can't remember which ones). It looks very cute and beautiful. And against the background of the amazing beauty of the temple, it is as if you are briefly transported to the distant Middle Ages - not terrible, but refined and refined.
