The second interesting fact: as far as you know, many triumphal arches installed all over the world – Rome, Paris, Madrid and even ours on Kutuzovsky – were erected in honor of the victory: our arch – in honor of the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812; in Madrid – in honor of the victory during the Spanish Civil War; in Paris – in honor of the victory in the battle of Austerlitz; in Rome – 3 arches and all these are victories during the Roman Empire (i.e. 80 – 315 AD). But the Arc de Triomphe in Barcelona was built as the main entrance to the first international exhibition in Spain, held in December 1888. The third interesting fact: the arch was built of red brick, which was then the cheapest building material, the material of the "poor". But the author specifically used it as a protest against the rich and for the protection of the working class and the prosperity of industry. In conclusion: during the international exhibition, there was a highway under the arch, but after the exhibition was completed, a pedestrian zone was created.
