Terms of Use of Yandex BareMetal

This document contains specific terms of use of Yandex BareMetal Service (the "Service") and is an integral part of Yandex Cloud Customer Agreement (the "Agreement") and Service Terms set forth at https://yandex.com/legal/cloud_service_terms. Capitalized terms used herein but not defined herein shall have the meanings set forth in Agreement and Linked Documents.

1. Service Functionality

1.1. The Service offers the Customer the ability to use the computational power of a dedicated server to host, store, and process the Customer’s information and Content. This includes the creation and launch of Dedicated Servers, management of said Servers, and transfer of data between the Customer’s Dedicated Servers within the Platform. Additionally, the Customer may use other functionalities of the Service.

1.2. The Service provides the Customer with access to:

  • Dedicated Servers without an operating system installed;
  • Dedicated Servers with a pre-installed operating system.

1.3. The Customer is granted the following abilities:

1.3.1. Creation of Dedicated Servers in the Availability Zone of the Customer’s choice.

1.3.2. Creation of Dedicated Servers with technical specifications selected by the Customer.

1.3.3. Use of .iso Images for the installation of the operating system on the Dedicated Server.

1.3.4. Storage of the Customer’s information and content.

1.3.5. Access to the Dedicated Servers via SSH using a pair of keys, as well as via an IPMI console.

1.3.6. Other functionalities of the Service that Yandex makes available to the Customer at its discretion. The full list of functionalities is available to the Customer on the Site and/or in the Management Console.

1.4. Service Level is determined for the Service in accordance with SLA.

2. Service Tariffication

2.1. The use of the Service is chargeable.

2.2. Service Fee for the Service is determined as per Service Rates and billing units specified on Site. Yandex may change Service Rates as prescribed by Agreement.

2.3. Service Fee for the Service depends on the selected configuration of the Dedicated Server and the period of access to the Service.

2.4. Yandex may from time to time provide Customer with additional functional features of the Service for an additional fee.

2.5. Within the framework of the Service, the Customer can take advantage of special price and discount offers, information about which is posted on the Site and/or in the Management Console (if applicable).

3 Additional Service Use Restrictions

3.1. The Service may contain a number of restrictions, a list of which is contained on the Site in the section "Quotas and limits"

3.2. It is the Customer’s responsibility to independently monitor and ensure the security and relevance of the software used on the Dedicated Servers, to promptly update software versions or make configuration changes in accordance with the Instructions or requirements posted by the rightholders of the relevant software.

3.3. The Customer shall not interfere with the system components of the Dedicated Servers, including BIOS, BMC, or attempt to change firmware or system software versions on the Dedicated Server. Furthermore, the Customer shall not interfere with the IPMI operation settings.

3.4. If the Customer becomes aware of any violations of the rules of permitted Acceptable Use Policy https://yandex.com/legal/cloud_aup that may impact the operation of the Platform resources or those of third parties, Yandex may interrupt the operation of the Dedicated Servers that violate the security requirements.

3.5. It is the responsibility of the Customer to install the operating system on the Dedicated Server, should this be necessary.

Terms

Capitalized terms used in these Terms and not defined in the Offer or the terms of use of other Services shall have the following meanings:

Dedicated Server refers to a Yandex physical server located in the Data Processing Centre, the resources of which are used by the Customer when providing the Service.

BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) refers to a set of firmware that implements low-level APIs to work with computer hardware.

BMC (Baseboard Management Controller) refers to a controller that implements the logic of IPMI operation.

IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) refers to an intelligent platform management interface designed for autonomous monitoring and management of functions embedded directly into the hardware and firmware of server platforms.

.iso Image refers to a data structure based on the Platform’s computing power, hosted on the Yandex infrastructure, used for storing operating systems, information, and Content.
