Game operations

LiveOps (Live Operations) is the process of operating a game after its release: tracking metrics, regular updates, event management, community engagement, and A/B tests. The more actively you work on your game, the longer it lives, the more players return to it, and the more stable your income becomes.

You can manage operations directly from the Developer Console — without complex infrastructure or extra costs.

Step 1. Analyze

Monitor the state of your game using the analytics tools in the Console — they will help you find growth opportunities and respond to issues in time.

Metrics

  • Total income — a consolidated financial overview across all games.
  • Control panel — an overview of key metrics and alerts about important changes: declining metrics, game issues.
  • Metrics — detailed statistics on product, financial, and technical indicators. Games with a rating of 80+ and Average revenue per daily active user (ARPDAU) > 2 RUB typically generate noticeable income.
  • Purchase metrics — statistics on in-app purchases: who pays, what they buy, and how revenue grows.

Reviews

Leave official responses to player reviews and take their feedback into account when improving the game.

Step 2. Run A/B tests

Make decisions based on data — test hypotheses using A/B testing tools.

For game development

  • Builds A/B tests — evaluate the impact of major changes on metrics: show an experimental game build to a portion of your audience.
  • Experiments with flags — test minor changes through remote configuration without releasing a new version.

For player acquisition

  • A/B testing of icons — compare icon and cover variants to increase conversion to game launch from the catalog.

Step 3. Develop the game

Regular updates, experiments, and new mechanics retain players and improve metrics.

Release updates

  • Fix bugs.
  • Improve the quality of existing content, add new content.
  • Reflect platform rule changes in new game versions. To stay up to date, check the change log and follow updates on our YouTube.

Manage remote configuration

With flags, you can change game settings in real time, without uploading a new archive or going through moderation. For example, balance difficulty, enable promotions, or gradually roll out new features.

Add leaderboards

Leaderboards show players their ranking among others — this motivates them to return and compete.

Step 4. Attract players

The more players, the higher the income. Use promotion tools to grow faster.

When your game has a green rating and ARPDAU of at least 1.5 RUB, launch paid promotion — advertising in the catalog and on other games' pages.

Add promotions

Promotions help attract players, increase in-app purchases, and energize the community. Time your promotion to a Yandex Games themed event or launch your own.
