DSC Europe 24: Yandex researchers present advanced AI solutions in Belgrade
This week, Data Science Conference (DSC) Europe 24, a leading conference focused on AI and data science, is hosting over 5000 experts and professionals for a 5-day event dedicated to exploring the latest developments in these fields. DSC Europe 24 features insightful talks from leading AI and data science experts, including speakers from companies like Microsoft and GitLab. The conference covers a wide range of topics, from machine learning and computer vision to natural language processing and data ethics.
Yandex is a proud sponsor and active participant in this event, showcasing the company’s expertise and contributing to the important conversations around AI and data science. At this year’s conference in Belgrade, Serbia, Yandex’s ML engineers will present five topics that reflect the potential of AI in various areas, offering practical solutions to real-world problems.
Anastasia Shapedko, Project Lead of Technologies for Inclusion, will discuss how the company’s smart assistant, Alice, was trained to understand people with speech impairments, such as stuttering, cerebral palsy, stroke, or trauma.
Daria Vinogradova, Senior Computer Vision Engineer, will speak on developing gesture-based interactions for Yandex Stations with smart assistant Alice, particularly for controlling music. She will focus on open-source data collection methods, creating lightweight models, and optimizing them for specific hardware.
Vladimir Platonov, TTS (text-to-speech) Department Lead, will delve into the evolution of text-to-speech technology in audiobook production. From developing a high-quality TTS system using only 90 hours of training data to incorporating large-scale datasets and advanced neural network architectures, Vladimir will provide a comprehensive overview of the advancements made by Yandex's TTS team.
Eugene Lyapustin, Senior ML Engineer developing the company’s text-to-image diffusion model YandexART, will explore the training process for such. From the common requirements to potential pitfalls, Eugene will outline the process of creating state-of-the-art image generation models, such as Midjourney, DALL-E 3, and Stable Diffusion.
Dmitrii Solomonov, B2B Backend Team Lead, will be delivering a presentation titled “From Walruses to Code: A Guide to Tackling Unique ML Problems”. In his talk, Dmitrii will analyze the specifics of choosing the right technology for solving non-standard ML tasks and provide insights on how to achieve optimal results even with a small dataset.
By participating in DSC Europe 24, Yandex reaffirms its commitment to advancing the global AI and data science landscape with its broad expertise and experience.
