Panoramic Views of Crimea on Yandex

Internet, October 6, 2010. Yandex invites users to travel to Crimea. Yandex.Maps has released panoramic views of a couple of dozen cities and resort towns in Crimea, including Sevastopol, Simferopol, Yalta, Alushta and Gurzuf.

Now that the tourist season is over, holiday makers will like to see the places where they spent their summer to enjoy the seafront vista in Sudak again or take a virtual stroll along Yevpatoria’s embankment. In addition to city streets and promenades, panoramic views on Yandex.Maps also show all key highways in Crimea — the users can see, for instance, the serpentine road to the Ai-Petri pass.

Yandex.Maps users can take a whole sightseeing tour through the panoramic views to see Genoese fortress, Inkerman stone quarries, Vorontsov’s Palace and other tourist attractions of Crimea. There is no need for a ticket or a pre-paid holiday voucher to get into Nikitsky Botanical Garden or Artek.

Together with its long-standing partner neq4, Yandex has made panoramic images covering in total 1,660 km of Crimean roads. The images were taken at the peak of the tourist season from the 4th to the 23rd of July, so they show the peninsula in all splendor of its luscious greenery and a lot of sun (just like the panoramic images of Krasnodar Krai released last summer). Currently, Yandex.Maps offers panoramic views of 44 cities and resort towns, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Kiev. Today, the service has added panoramic views of another large city Rostov-on-Don.
