Uralsvyazinform, the largest provider of telecommunications services in the Urals region, has become Yandex’s new partner in the Local Network Program in these cities. Additionally, in Ekaterinburg and in Chelyabinsk, which are already a part of our own local access program, Uralsvyazinform starts providing access to Yandex’s services at local rates.

Uralsvyazinform is the second provider taking on the costs of bringing Yandex traffic to web users.

The Local Network Program was launched last year. This project is Yandex’s solution to the Internet access problem in Russia’s regions: federal and local traffic in the regions have different payment rates and connection speed. In the framework of this project Yandex rents dedicated channels to large cities in every federal region, thus becoming a local web resource for the majority of web users in Russia.
