Login and settings

On the Yandex Telemost home screen, you can start a meeting, schedule a meeting, or join a meeting or live stream.

To open the settings, click in the lower-right corner.

Name and photo

If you're logged in to Yandex Telemost with your Yandex account, you can set your name and photo. That way everyone in the meeting will know who you are.

Alert

Your name will also be used in comments and reviews on Yandex, and the photo will appear in all Yandex services.

You can change your name and photo:

Before or after the meeting

  1. Log in to Yandex Telemost if you haven't yet.
  2. Open the settings by clicking in the lower-right corner.
  3. On the Account tab, click Change name and photo.

During the meeting

  1. At the bottom, click  → Settings.
  2. On the Account tab, click Change name and photo.

Note

If you're not logged in, Yandex Telemost will prompt you to enter your name manually every time you join a meeting, and a photo is randomly selected from a standard set of images.

Selecting audio and video devices

Yandex Telemost selects the microphone, audio output device, and camera automatically. However, you can select devices manually:

  1. Open the settings by clicking in the lower-right corner.

  2. Go to the Sound or Camera tab and select the devices to use.

    The video from the camera is mirrored for you. However, your conversation partners see you as usual, and if you show them text, they won't have any trouble reading it.

Warning

Camera and sound settings are not available in Mozilla Firefox.

Microphone and camera access

When you create or join a meeting for the first time, the browser requests access to your microphone and camera. You can allow access immediately in the notification or later in your browser settings. To find out how to do this, see the instructions for your browser.

Select a browser

Make sure that access to your camera and microphone is allowed in your operating system settings:

Windows 11

Camera access:

  1. Click  →  → Privacy & security. If the Privacy & security section is missing, try to find it through the search bar at the top of the Parameters window.
  2. In the menu, click Camera.
  3. Make sure the Camera access and Let apps access your camera options are enabled.

Microphone access:

  1. Click  →  → Privacy & security. If the Privacy & security section is missing, try to find it through the search bar at the top of the Parameters window.
  2. In the menu, click Microphone.
  3. Make sure the Microphone access and Let apps access your microphone options are enabled.

Allow access through Windows Defender Firewall:

  1. Click  → Privacy & securityWindows Security.
  2. In the menu, select Firewall & network protection.
  3. Click Allow an app through firewall.
  4. In the upper-right corner, click Change settings.
  5. In the applications list, find yandextelemost.exe.
  6. Select the check box next to it under Private.
  7. Click OK.

Tip

Make sure that you added the program where you use Yandex Telemost to the antivirus exclusions.

Windows 10

Camera access:

  1. Click  →  → Privacy. If the Privacy section is missing, try using the search bar at the top of the Parameters window.
  2. In the left menu, click Camera.
  3. Make sure that the option Allow apps to access your camera or Let apps use my camera is enabled.
  4. If there is the Allow desktop apps to access your camera option, make sure it is enabled.

Microphone access:

  1. Click  →  → Privacy.
  2. In the left menu, click Microphone.
  3. Make sure that the option Allow apps to access your microphone or Let apps use my microphone is enabled.
  4. If there is the Allow desktop apps to access your microphone option, make sure it is enabled.

Allow access through Windows Defender Firewall:

  1. Click  →  → Network & Internet.
  2. In the left menu, click Status.
  3. Click Windows Defender Firewall → Allow an app through Windows Firewall.
  4. In the applications list, find yandextelemost.exe.
  5. Select the check box next to it under Private.
  6. Click OK.

Tip

Make sure that you added the program where you use Yandex Telemost to the antivirus exclusions.

Windows 8

Camera access:

  1. From the Charms bar on the right, open Settings → Change PC settings → Privacy.
  2. In the left menu, click Webcam.
  3. Make sure that the Let apps use my webcam option is enabled.

Microphone access:

  1. From the Charms bar on the right, open Settings → Change PC settings → Privacy.
  2. In the left menu, click Microphone.
  3. Make sure that the Let apps use my microphone option is enabled.

Allow access through Windows Firewall:

  1. Click  → All apps → Control Panel → System and Security → Windows Firewall.
  2. In the left menu, choose Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall.
  3. In the applications list, find yandextelemost.exe.
  4. Select the check box next to it under Private.
  5. Click OK.

Tip

Make sure that you added the program where you use Yandex Telemost to the antivirus exclusions.

Windows 7

Note

In Windows 7, the system does not restrict access to the camera and microphone.

Allow access through Windows Firewall:

  1. Click Start → Control Panel → System and Security → Windows Firewall.
  2. In the left menu, choose Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall.
  3. In the applications list, find yandextelemost.exe.
  4. Select the check box next to it under Private.
  5. Click OK.

Screen access

In Windows, the system does not restrict access to screen recording.

Virtual background

Virtual background is not available in Yandex Telemost for browser. To enable a virtual background, use Yandex Telemost for desktop.

For Yandex Telemost to work properly, add the following settings to the corporate network exceptions:

This helps avoid connection issues, including the proxy connection error. If the error persists, add all IP addresses used by Yandex to the exceptions.
