Presenting information on a site

The ranking takes into account not only if the video is relevant to the query and if the information provided is full and up-to-date, but also how well it is structured and presented. Unlike printed books that use a standard way to present texts, information online can be presented in many various styles. Poor style can make the information virtually impossible to use. Yandex analyzes the usability of the information presented on a site. If the information on the page is accessible and easy to grasp and not split into multiple small blocks lost in advertising texts, the page receives a higher ranking. To avoid ranking penalties, read more about Yandex's policy on aggressive advertising.

Because the Yandex search robot doesn't perform any actions on the site, it can index only the information that is available without additional actions such as registering on the site, sending SMS messages, entering a code or an additional query. In other words, Yandex doesn't index “deep web”“ .”

Tips for placing information on the site pages:

  • The purpose of the document should be clear from the first browser screen.

  • We don't recommend using decorative elements that block users' view of the text, such as scrolling windows, hidden drop-downs, and so on.

  • If the text is large, split it into pages by major logical parts (for example, chapters but not paragraphs).

  • The text should be logical and have a neat design.

Note. Neatly designed and well-structured pages attract users because it is easier to find information on them.

Design of the main elements of the site page

Page title (title)

The page title is the text inside the title HTML element. It lets the search engine know what is on the page. The text inside the title element is displayed by the browser in the window title. In addition, this text contains the link to your site in the Yandex search results. In a way, it is the business card of your resource. Learn more

Styles for text headers and H1, ..., H6 tags

Well-designed text headers help the user to navigate through the page and save time. It is also easier for the Yandex robot to recognize the document structure. This is why you should put the headers in the tags according to the document hierarchy.

Layout

The page layout should meet the standards.

Cross-browser compatibility

The information on your site should be displayed correctly in all browsers. If your potential customer uses a browser that doesn't display your site correctly or doesn't display it at all, the user is very likely to leave the site .

The noindex element

To prohibit a part of the page text from indexing, use the noindex element. Make sure that the closing noindex tag is present where necessary.

Note. Don't place text that users will never see on the page.
