Booking

Booking is a type of campaign designed to reserve inventory for direct sales. Booking campaigns do not have active impressions, but their potential traffic is taken into account when making forecasts for other campaigns. You can also make a forecast for the booking itself.

With Booking, you can:

  • Quickly reserve inventory for future sales without creating any banners.
  • Optimize your campaign settings such as targetings and limits for when you eventually run it.
  • Check how launching a new campaign may affect other campaigns.
  • Store data about planned and current campaigns in one place.
  • Automatically reserve inventory after the specified date (for example, if placement hasn't yet been paid by the customer).

Creating a booking

  1. On the Campaigns → Commercial tab, click Create. Booking is available at the campaign and flight levels.

    How to add a flight
    1. Open the Campaigns (NEW) tab and select the campaign where you want to create a flight.
    2. On the campaign page, click Flights.
    3. On the Flights tab, click Create. A form for adding a flight opens.
  2. Specify the main parameters of your campaign or flight:

    • Campaign type: Select Guarantee.
    • Campaign name.
    • Status: Active. If you select the Paused or Completed status, the booking won't be taken into account in forecasts for other campaigns.
    • Advertiser.
    • Impression count method (available only at the campaign level).
  3. If necessary, fill in the Booking completion date field: the date after which the booking campaign will change its status to Completed and will no longer be taken into account in forecasts for other campaigns.

  4. Scroll down to Placement and use the list to select a site, section, or placement for running your campaign. Alternatively, apply a placement profile, if you have one. To learn more about placements, see Campaign and banner placement.

    Warning

Campaign placement is a prerequisite for creating a booking. To increase the accuracy of the forecast, we recommend specifying precise locations for your ads: for example, by selecting individual placements rather than an entire site.

  5. Once you select the campaign's placement, you can generate a forecast. With forecasts, you can quickly assess the likelihood of campaign completion based on your selected settings and other campaigns sharing the same inventory.

If the forecast indicates that the campaign won't be completed, try changing the settings, such as limits, targetings, and delivery rates, or run the campaign on other placements. Use forecasts to optimize your campaign settings.

To learn more about analyzing forecasts, see Forecasting.

  6. Click Save as a Booking.

Once the campaign is saved, banners matching the placement type are automatically created for the selected placements. For example, when a campaign is placed on a site with a 240 × 400 banner type, a 240 × 400 banner is added automatically.

Uploading creatives for a Booking campaign is optional. This can be done later before changing the campaign to Guarantee. Automatic banners are enough for forecasting.

Changing a campaign from Booking to Guarantee

To change a campaign or flight from Booking to Guarantee:

  1. Open the booking:

Go to Campaigns → Commercial and find the desired booking campaign in the list.

    1. Open the Campaigns (NEW) tab and select the campaign where you want to create a flight. 2. On the campaign page, click Flights. 3. Find the desired flight in the list.

  2. In the campaign settings, go to Banners.

  3. Set up automatically created banners: define a banner template, upload advertising creatives, and configure display, labeling, and banner menu settings. Learn more about banner parameters in Banner requirements.

  4. Go to Parameters and change the campaign type to Guarantee.

  5. At the bottom of the page, click Save as a Guarantee.

The campaign type will be changed to Guarantee and banner impressions will start according to the campaign parameters.

Note

To launch a campaign, just set up at least one banner. Unconfigured banners will be paused as soon as the campaign type changes to Guarantee. Note that in this case the campaign won't achieve the full volume of impressions forecasted at the booking stage.
