Events in banners
How to use events
Adfox can track the number of impressions, clicks, and other events related to your banners. For example:
- Let's say you want to know how many people watched your video clip to the end or to the middle and how many people closed it immediately.
- You want to add certain effects when a user hovers over your banner.
All standard events are specified in predefined templates and are called automatically. The list of events depends on the banner format. For more information, see banner format requirements.
Note
The “IMS”
Targeting isn't taken into account for events. If you take an event link from a banner, the number of events is counted regardless of your targeting parameters.
View events
To view all events related to a banner:
- In the main menu, open the Campaigns tab, click Banners, and select the banner you need.
- Go to the Reports tab and select Main → By events.
- Click Build a report to see the event report.
Set up events in a custom template
To set up events in a banner, create a template for the desired banner type containing macros like %event1%.
The maximum number of events in the banner is 30.
Flexible event accounting
Note
By default, the system counts all events associated with a specific banner. The statistics are displayed in tags and event reports.
Some banners may require protection against fake engagement: for example, if the banner behaves incorrectly under certain conditions or if events are triggered intentionally.
To limit event accounting:
-
Log in to Adfox with the administrator's account. Go to Settings → Banner types or enter a banner type in the search bar.
-
Select the banner type and go to the Templates tab.
-
In the Session limit field, enter the maximum number of events that can be counted for a specific event of a single banner (sent to the user's page) within 30 minutes.
For example, 5 No. 1 events came from the banner loaded to the page within 30 minutes. In the template for this banner, the limit was set to 4. In this case, the fifth event over the session limit is ignored. It isn't counted in the tags and event reports.
