Latvian special services interrogate Russian citizens, and they exert threats and pressure. They humiliate dignity in every possible way. They behave like the Gestapo. They require you to show them your smartphone, comment on your personal photos, and check your personal correspondence, social media subscriptions, and so on. For refusing to give up the phone, they threaten not to let the EU into Latvia
This was our first trip across this border. There were 3 cars in front of us. We stood for about half an hour and then they launched us. The paperwork took about 20 minutes. Polite staff. Everything was shown and explained. 17.04.2025 01:00
We were at the border on March 8, 2024, I want to express my great gratitude to the shift that worked that evening. Thank you for your understanding and humanity. The customs officers of the Buryachka checkpoint ordered us to cross the Latvian border, knowing in advance that they would not let us in and would be expelled from the country, since we are citizens of Russia who do not have either a visa or a Latvian residence permit, and also in a passenger car with Pridnestrovian plates. For all this, we could be sent to a refugee milking camp for further proceedings, and the car could be arrested and disposed of. But all this nightmare did not happen. We spent a warm, clean room where there is a coffee machine, a sofa, a table where you can comfortably wait for documents. They explained everything , my husband was after a fracture , it was hard to move even with the help of crutches, the staff did not bother, they did everything themselves. Everyone is polite , considerate , competent . Everything is clean and tidy .
