The Museum of Modern Art in Istanbul impresses with the scale and variety of the exposition. In one of the halls there is a work by Erwin Wurm: a bright red car with hyper—realistic figures of two men; the composition catches the contrast of a toy silhouette of a car and extremely "alive" figures ‑ drama and tension are felt in it. In another room, there is a piano hanging in the air: a concise and at the same time very expressive image. Separately, it is worth noting the installation of a "breathing" bed, which also makes sounds — this effect makes the work especially memorable. At the same time, the museum is not limited to sculpture and installations: there are a lot of paintings in different directions and techniques, from abstraction to figurative painting. The exhibits are not assembled into a single composition, but are dispersed in different halls, and this works for perception: each piece sounds in its own way, without interrupting others. The rating is 5 stars.

On the second day of our stay in Istanbul, we decided to change the era of studying Turkish culture and visited the Museum of Modern Art. There are not a lot of expositions, but we were impressed. ISTANBUL MODERN is a must—visit for visuals and those who are interested in the contrast with the historical side of Istanbul. This is probably the best museum of modern art that I have ever visited. Although, of course, it is worth considering the subjectivity of perception, especially in the topic of contemporary art. The museum building itself features modern architecture, huge panoramic windows, light, space, and a circular observation deck with stunning views of the city and the Bosphorus. The roof under the observation deck is covered with water, and visually it seems to dissolve into the strait. Seagulls sit on the parapets, and when they fly up in a flock — along with the reflection of the sky in the water — it's just magic. The exhibition is located in three halls: painting, graphics, interactive installations, sculpture, photography. You can get around in an hour, if you don't have enough time, there is definitely something to look at and consider. I was particularly impressed by the works that modernize the Turkish ethnicity — subtly and strongly. The location is perfect for those who need visual content for social networks)) There is where and what to take pictures of, against the background of what, too. I would like to note separately that the installation is made of red threads: if you have time to capture the moment without people and be able to shoot, you can make very interesting shots. Inside there is a souvenir shop with souvenirs (without consumer goods) and something more, a library (I'm not sure if there are books in Russian, but suddenly), and a nice cafe with a view of the water. Ticket price: 700 lire — for tourists 450 liras — for students (take your student ID with you, they may accept it) and for 65+ Separately about the location: The museum is located in Beyoglu and overlooks a stylish modern embankment overlooking the Golden Horn arrow and the Bosphorus. On the right is Karakey: street cafes, bars, authentic shops, the legendary shawarma with mackerel and the "street with umbrellas". On the left is the area with the brand stores that we miss so much, coffee shops and verandas on the waterfront. And in front of the main facade is a square with a mosque and a clock tower from the Ottoman period. The building fits perfectly into the urban environment, and the whole area left a very pleasant and complete impression. I advise you to go beyond visiting the museum and take a longer walk in the area.

The museum is amazing! 2 small spaces for temporary exhibitions on the ground floor, on the second floor there is a permanent exhibition, starting from 1930 and ending with modern authors + another large space for a temporary exhibition. Near all the paintings there is a short biography of the author in Turkish and English, as well as what the painting is dedicated to (photography / installation), which helps an unprepared visitor to understand the author's intention. Most of all, I was struck by the fact that Tuesday is a free day for children, and the local guide does not just conduct an excursion for children aged 5-6, but discusses with them what they see in this or that picture, which may be difficult for an adult (see photo)

An abundance of creative work — I admired and enjoyed the cultural code in the projection of the present and the future, but I liked the design of the room itself and the location of halls and spaces (shops with books, lecture halls, etc.) more. It's like it's a big and large-scale version of the library in Vyborg or GES-2. In one word — "waaaaah"! It turned out to be a lot too modern for me, from the category of "I'm an artist, that's how I see it." And you watch the uninteresting ones. It does not attract, does not capture, does not evoke feelings. But there were also decent jobs. I've wanted to visit the museum for a long time, and the "red installation" has become an additional incentive. The best object at this exhibition is definitely! It's amazing. The photo gallery is good. We stayed there for a long time. I really liked almost all the works. The idea of chairs is brilliant. It is convenient when you want to stop and reflect with the author of the work. It is definitely much more convenient to do this sitting down. Why didn't we come up with that?) I recommend it! The museum is very worthy! There is a cafe inside with a beautiful view of the Galaport and the Bosphorus. For May 2025, the ticket price is 750 liras. The exchange rate of $ 100 is 3680 rubles.

An attempt to touch the beautiful. A city like Istanbul simply has to have a museum like this. To escape from the urban oriental bustle and wander in silence, to try to understand what the author wanted to say by this ... he did not regret at all that he visited the museum. The exposition is extremely poor and very primitive. We saw an exhibition of very poor quality, from the point of view of art, which suggests a lack of flair or taste among the organizers. We try to visit the museum of modern art in every country. The Istanbul Museum is no exception. As of February 2025, admission cost 700 lira per person. The space is interesting and modern. There is a stunning observation deck on the roof overlooking the straits and the city. The expositions are diverse. There are photographs, statues, paintings and interactive exhibitions. Like any art, we didn't try to understand everything, but just looked for something that would respond specifically to us. Then we spent the whole evening discussing what we saw. Plus, the entire territory of Galata port is worth a visit. There is a beautiful and new embankment here.

One of the best in Istanbul! A great location when I left the museum and found myself in decent and trendy restaurants and shops on the Bosphorus embankment. In addition to the permanent exhibition, new exhibitions of Turkish and international artists always come, they constantly change, which is always pleasing, especially if you live here :) There is a library where you can work quietly and find good books.
