Terms of Use of the Service ‘API for Authorization via Yandex ID’

These Terms of Use of the Service ‘API for Authorization via Yandex ID’ (hereinafter referred to as the Terms) represent a service offered by Yandex (as referred in User Agreement for Yandex Services) https://yandex.com/legal/rules/ to the user that owns rights to a computer program or a website on the Internet (hereinafter referred to as the User) to use the Service ‘API for Authorization via Yandex ID’ (hereinafter referred to as the Service), on the terms and conditions set out below:

1. General Provisions

1.1. Terms and Definitions

Service shall mean a software interface that offers the User the opportunity to provide authorization of End Users in the User Program via Yandex ID.

Yandex ID is a Yandex service that combines authorization and registration systems for users of Yandex services accounts (https://passport.yandex.com).

User Program shall mean a website on the Internet and/or a computer software, including mobile applications, the rightholder of which is the User.

API Key shall mean a unique identification number issued to the User and making service functions accessible.

End Users shall mean users registered in Yandex ID, who use the User Program and log in to it via Yandex ID.

Data shall mean information transmitted from Yandex ID, with which End Users may authorize through Yandex ID.

1.2. The use of the Service by the User shall be governed by these Terms, as well as the following Documents:

(hereinafter referred to as the Regulatory Documents).

The User undertakes to review all Regulatory Documents. In case of disregarding this requirement, the User shall assume all possible risks of not having reviewed the said Regulatory Documents.

1.3. Starting to use the Service, namely, by requesting an API Key, that is, from the moment the token is created, or using any other functionality provided by the Service, the User shall accept these Terms, as well as the terms of the Regulatory Documents, in full, without any reservations or exceptions, and comply therewith.

It is only possible to use the Service under terms other than the terms of the said documents subject to Yandex's prior written consent. If the User disagrees with any of the terms of the said documents, the User has no right to use the Service.

1.4. These Terms, and relations between Yandex and the User arising out of or in connection with the Service shall be covered by the law of the Russian Federation.

All disputes and disagreements arising from the Terms or from the use of the Service shall be resolved in court at the location of Yandex, subject to mandatory extrajudicial settlement of disputes and disagreements by sending requests by the User through the Yandex feedback form according to the rules of Cl. 5.1. of the Terms.

1.5. The User shall be held independently liable for compliance with the laws when using the Service. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the term “laws” throughout the text of the Terms shall mean both the laws of the Russian Federation and the laws of User's place of stay or a place, where they commit legally significant acts under these Terms. If the User violates the laws of the User's place of stay by using any feature of the Service, the User undertakes to refrain from using the Service.

1.6. By using the Service, the User consents to receive promotional and advertising messages.

The User may unsubscribe from promotional messages by using relevant functions of the Service or following instructions specified in a promotional message received.

2. Terms of Use of the Service

2.1. To access the Service, the User shall create an application in the developer account at oauth.yandex.com and receive an API Key.

2.2. Yandex may deny access to the Service without giving any reason. The User may not use any programs, devices, or other means that make it possible to obtain an API Key automatically or otherwise in violation of the procedure established by Yandex.

2.3. The Service provides the User with the ability to embed a software-based interface into the User Program that allows End Users to log in using Yandex ID.

2.4. The User shall independently determine the composition of the End User Data that is transmitted to the User, and undertakes to inform the End Users about their authorization via Yandex ID.

When selecting the relevant categories of Data, the User shall proceed from the minimum required composition of Data received from the Service. Yandex may at any time request justification for the User's selection of a particular category of Data and explanations regarding the purposes and terms of processing such Data.

Yandex may refuse to provide Data or a separate category of Data at any time if the User detects any violations of the requirements of these Terms and/or Regulatory Documents, receives complaints/appeals/claims from End Users and third parties, detects signs of suspicious activity in the Service and for other reasons.

2.5. The User undertakes to independently take measures to comply with the laws on personal data in relation to the End User Data obtained using the Service.

The User, among other things, shall:

  • inform End Users about data processing terms;

  • use the Data solely for the purpose of ensuring the functionality of the Program (or authorization therein);

  • not use the received Data for advertising purposes, other marketing activities, mass mailings or phone calls;

  • ensure an appropriate level of protection of the received Data;

  • not transfer Data to third parties, if such transfer has no grounds related to the fulfillment of contractual obligations to the End User, the consent received from the End User, or other grounds provided for by applicable law.

Yandex may at any time send an inquiry containing a request to confirm compliance with the above requirements, or request explanations regarding information about non-compliance with these requirements.

In case of disregarding the request, or confirmation of information about the User's non‑compliance with the obligations stipulated by law or these Data Processing Terms, Yandex may restrict the User's access to the Service.

2.6. The User may independently terminate the valid API Key in the partner account interface or by contacting the Service help desk.

2.7. Yandex reserves the right to set any restrictions pertaining to the use of the Service, as well as to change the restrictions at its sole discretion, without prior written notice to Users.

2.8. Yandex reserves the right to modify, correct or update the Service at any time, with no prior notice to the User. Once a new version of the Service is released, Yandex does not guarantee that its outdated version will operate stably and continuously. The User not willing to use an updated version of the Service may either use its outdated version further at own risk or stop using the Service.

2.9. Yandex may, at its own discretion, terminate or suspend access to the Service for the User without notice and with no reason given, particularly if the User fails to comply with the requirements hereof.

3. Intellectual Property Rights

3.1. The exclusive right to the Service is vested in Yandex.

3.2. When the User uses the Service, they may not delete, hide or modify any data, trademarks, logos, links or other references to Yandex or other entities contained in or obtained via the Service, as well as any other notices and/or information transferred by the Service.

3.3. Using the Service, the User grants Yandex the right to use the logo, trademark and/or trade name of the User and/or the User's website for information, advertising and marketing purposes with no need to secure any additional consent of the User and with no remuneration payable to the User for such use.

3.4. The User may not change, decompile, and/or somehow modify the program code they obtained via the Service. The User may not use the Service to create web services, computer software, or otherwise, if such use violates the laws, Regulatory Documents, and/or third-party rights and legitimate interests.

4. Disclaimer

4.1. The Service is provided by Yandex “as is”. Yandex does not guarantee the fitness of the Service for goals and expectations of the Users, trouble-free and failure-free operation of the Service and its certain components and/or functions.

4.2. Yandex will not be held liable and will not indemnify against any damage, direct or indirect, the User of the Service or third parties suffered as a result of the use or unavailability of the Service.

4.3. The User shall be held independently liable to third parties for actions performed when they used the Service, inter alia, for meeting legal requirements and not infringing third-party rights and legitimate interests. The User undertakes to settle all third-party claims related to actions performed when using the Service, independently and at own expense.

4.4. The User will be held solely liable, in full, for using and safekeeping their API Key. The User may not obtain an API Key for a third party, transfer or provide it to a third party. Yandex will not be held liable for unauthorized use of the API Key by third parties. Any action performed in the Service using the User's API Key will be deemed to be performed by the User.

4.5. Yandex will not verify the validity, relevance, accuracy and correctness of the Yandex ID Data and shall not be liable for the contents thereof.

The User may rely on the received Data at their own risk, as well as independently require confirmation from the End User.

5. Final provisions

5.1. Any questions and claims related to the use/unavailability of the Service shall be sent via the feedback form at https://www.yandex.com/support/id/troubleshooting/oauth.html.

5.2. Yandex may change the text of these Terms at any time without notifying the User. The current version of these Terms and Conditions is available at: https://yandex.com/legal/authid_api. A new version of the Terms will become effective once posted online at the URL specified in this paragraph. Any continued use of the Service after the Terms has been changed will be regarded as acceptance of the new version. The User shall stop using the Service, if Yandex makes any changes to these Terms the User disagrees with.
