Mechanical Engineer (Shenzhen, China)

Yandex Market is searching for an experienced Mechanical Engineer for its R&D team in Shenzhen to lead product design and development, NPI processes, and testing and validation. In this role, you’ll work closely with industrial designers and cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality mechanical design, process planning, and product delivery.

Running competitor analysis and exploring new technologies
You will run competitor analysis, monitor technology trends, and explore new mechanical architecture, materials, and processes.

Building design processes and documentation
You will build and maintain the ME database, establish ME design processes and design guidelines.

Collaborating on product design
You will collaborate with industrial designers to integrate mechanical components with aesthetic design requirements.

Leading mechanical design efforts
You will lead mechanical design for products, ensuring alignment with product requirements and specifications. You will also develop detailed mechanical designs.

Validating concepts and performance
You will perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate design concepts and ensure mechanical integrity and performance.

Leading design reviews
You will lead design reviews and provide detailed feedback to ensure designs meet all functional, performance, and manufacturability criteria.

Conducting DFX analysis
You will lead thorough DFX analyses to ensure optimal manufacturing processes and identify potential risks early on.

Developing manufacturing process plans
You will lead the development of detailed manufacturing process plans, including tooling requirements, assembly procedures, and quality control measures.

Executing mechanical testing
You will develop and execute comprehensive mechanical testing protocols to validate design performance, durability, and reliability.

Supporting builds
You will support managing each build from preparation to finish to ensure problems are dealt with in a timely manner.

Managing documentation
You will create and manage engineering documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), design specifications, and test protocols.

Serving as a point of contact
You will serve as the primary point of contact for mechanical engineering within cross-functional teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals and timelines.

• Have a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
• Have 5+ years of experience in mechanical design in the audio or consumer electronics industry with a strong portfolio of successfully launched products
• Have a proven record of designing mass volume (million-level) products
• Are proficient in CAD software for 3D modeling, drafting, and simulation
• Understand mechanical principles, including statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science
• Have experience with mechanical testing and validation techniques, including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and durability testing
• Possess strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as injection molding, machining, and assembly
• Have extensive experience in conducting tolerance analysis and DFM analysis, and in optimizing designs for manufacturability
• Can develop and implement DFM guidelines and best practices to standardize and streamline the design process
