# Text recognition

Smart camera can recognize text in the Yandex app. You can copy it, share it on social networks, or include it in a Yandex search query.

1. Open the Yandex app.
1. On the home screen, tap ![](../_assets/smart-camera.png) in the [SmartBox](https://yandex.com/support/yandex-app-android-alice/en/app/search.md#search).
1. Switch to the **Text** mode.
1. Point the camera to the text. The camera will recognize the text and highlight it in white.
1. Select the text:
   - To select part of the text, tap the first word and move the slider to the right.
   - To select the entire text, take a photo or pick an image from the photo gallery (in the lower-right corner, tap the round icon with a thumbnail of the latest photo). If you need to shorten the text, use the slider.

1. Select an action:

   - **Share**: Share the text on social networks.
   - **Copy**: Copy the text to the clipboard.
   - **Search**: Search for the text in Yandex.
