Manage channels and group chats
Stay connected with your team using chats and channels in Yandex Telemost.
Group chats are useful for communicating : all their members can send messages.
Channels are better suited for situations when you need to give information to other users rather then to discuss any matters. For example, you can share news or opinions. Only channel admins can post messages in a channel.
How to create a group chat or channel
- Press
→ New chat and select what you want to create. - Come up with a name, description, and add an image — to make it easier for members to find the chat or channel in the list.
- Add participants (a maximum of 30 users) and press Create. A chat can have a maximum of 3000 participants.
Share an invite link so you don't have to add people manually
Click the name of a channel or chat at the top of the page and enable the Invite link option in the settings. The invite link will appear after you save the settings.

What chat and channel admins can do
If you create a channel or group chat, you become its admin by default. Admins can:
- Remove and add members.
- Assign other admins.
- Edit chat names and descriptions.
- Permit or forbid users to write messages and use threads.
- Permit or forbid members to add new members, pin messages, and create group calls.
If you want to edit a chat or channel, press its name. To manage your chat or channel members and admins, go to Members.
You can configure other parameters in Chat settings.
If you don't need a group chat or channel anymore
You can't delete a group chat or a channel that you no longer need, but you can leave it. If you're the only admin of a chat or channel, you can delegate this role to another member before you leave.
