Configure notifications

You get a notification when you receive a message. By default, notifications are enabled for all chats. To change the settings:

For all chats
  1. Tap .
  2. Enable or disable the Show notifications, Sound, and Vibration options.
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Enable or disable the Show notifications option.
For individual chats
  1. Open a chat.
  2. Tap ( in iOS) in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Disable notifications or Enable notifications.
For all chats
  1. Open the chat list.
  2. Click .
  3. Enable or disable the Receive notifications option.
For individual chats
  1. Open a chat.
  2. Tap in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Disable notifications or Enable notifications.

If you enable notifications in the settings of an individual chat, but disable them in the general settings, you won't receive notifications.

Questions and issues

I don't get notifications.

  1. Open the device settings and select Yandex Messenger in the list of apps. If Yandex Messenger notifications are disabled, enable them.

  2. In Yandex Messenger:

    • Press  (Settings in iOS) and make sure that the Show notifications option is enabled. Try disabling it and then enabling it again (you need to have a stable internet connection).
    • Check if the Do not disturb mode is on. In this mode, you won't get notifications about messages or calls. If the "Do not disturb" mode is on, select a different status.

  3. If the problem persists, contact support.

I receive the same notifications multiple times

This may occur if Yandex Messenger is running in two or more apps from the list below at the same time. For example, if it's running in Yandex Browser for Android and in the Yandex with Alice app.

To fix this:

  1. Open the settings for each Yandex Messenger app.
  2. Enable the Show notifications option for only one of them.
No notification sound on the desktop computer

In the computer settings, check whether sound notifications are enabled for Yandex Messenger:

  1. Click Start → Control Panel → Sound.
  2. On the Sounds tab, select System Notification in the Program Events section.
  3. Select the notification sound in the Sounds block at the bottom.
  4. Click Apply → OK.
  1. Hover over the bottom-right corner of the screen and then move up.
  2. Click Parameters → Change PC settings.
  3. Select Notifications (for Windows 8.1: Search and Apps → Notifications).
  4. Enable the Play notification sounds option and turn on the toggle for Yandex Messenger in the Show notifications for these apps section.
  1. Click Start → Parameters → System.
  2. Select Notifications & actions.
  3. In the Receive notifications from these apps section, select Yandex Messenger.
  4. Enable the Play a sound when a notification arrives option.
  1. Click System Settings → Notifications.
  2. Select Yandex Messenger in the list of apps on the left.
  3. Enable the Play sound for notifications option.
