History

Yandex Disk stores user activity and the files' version history.

File version history

You can go back to a previous version of a file on Yandex Disk and restore it. This can be useful, for example, if you accidentally delete important information from a document and want to recover it.

Previous versions don't take up space on Yandex Disk.

If you have an active Yandex 360 plan, you can access the version history of the file for the last 90 days. If there's no active plan, only 14-day versions are available.

Viewing the file version history

To open the file version history:

  1. Select a file.
  2. Click Changelog on the top panel or in the context menu.

The line of each version shows the date and time when the file was modified. If you change the file multiple times, these consequent file versions will be grouped together.

If you want to find out what changes were made in one of the older versions of a file, open it. If after that you want to replace the current version with the older one, click Restore and select Replace current one. If you need both the old and current versions, click Restore and select Save as copy.

Note

To learn more about the files you can open in Yandex Disk, go to View files and folders.

You can't view the version history of other people's public files. If you save someone else's public file to your Yandex Disk, the version history starts from that moment.

Versions of files in shared folders

The shared folder history shows changes made by all folder members. Whether the version history is available for 14 days or 90 days depends on whether the owner of the shared folder has an active Yandex 360 plan.

The History tab displays all events — all recent actions with files and folders on your Yandex Disk. In history, you can:

  • View what happened to files that you can't find — you might have moved them to another location or deleted them. You can search for events in your history by using the search bar or filters.
  • Make sure that the history only displays your actions — to ensure that only you can access your Yandex Disk.

To reset a single filter, click again on the selected value. To reset all the filters, click Clear to the left of the filters.
