If someone shared a link to a file or folder with you, you can view it on the public page, copy it to your Yandex Disk, or download it.
Link restrictions
The link shared with you may have security settings:
Download restriction
- You won't be able to download or copy files to your Yandex Disk if the file or folder owner has disabled downloads. You can only view these files and folders from their public pages.
Expiration time
- When the time expires, the link will be deleted and the file or folder will become inaccessible until the owner shares it again.
Password protection
- To view the file or folder, you need to enter the password set by the owner.

Copy a file to your Yandex Disk
If someone shares with you a link to a file or folder stored on Yandex Disk, you can copy this file or folder to your Yandex Disk.
To copy a file or a folder, click the link you received and then click the Save to Yandex Disk button. The file or folder will be moved to the Downloads folder on your Yandex Disk.
You can access the Downloads folder from the left panel.
Download
If someone shares with you a link to a file or folder located on Yandex Disk, you can download this file or folder to your computer or mobile device.
To save the shared file to your device, click the link you received and then click Download.
Download a large folder
You can download folders from a public page if they contain less than 500 files or the folder size doesn't exceed 5 GB. Save larger folders to your Yandex Disk and download them using the desktop program:

On the public page, click Save on Yandex Disk. The folder will be moved to the folder Downloads on your Yandex Disk.

Download the application from the Yandex Disk page and install it.

Log in to the application.
If you still haven't registered on Yandex, click on Register to get started. Then enter your username and password in the application.Alert
If you use or have previously used two-factor authentication, you'll need a one-time password generated by the Yandex Key mobile app to authorize in the Yandex Disk application.

Open the folder Downloads.

In the context menu of the folder, select Download.
The downloaded folder doesn't sync with the cloud. If you have downloaded a folder, changed something in it, and want the changes to appear in Yandex Disk, upload the folder to Yandex Disk manually.If you want to download a folder and sync it with the cloud, select Save to computer from the context menu.
Files won't download
When using Yandex Disk, some of the following issues might occur: buttons stop working, page elements don't load, photos don't open, files fail to download, or the browser reports an error.
Why this happens and how to fix it:
Public file downloads are restricted

If a public file was downloaded many times during the day, the download limit is activated, and the download may be restricted for a day. If you don't want to wait, save the file to your Yandex Disk using the Save to Yandex Disk button. To download public files without restrictions, activate a Yandex 360 plan.
Note
You can only download folders that contain less than 500 files or are not larger than 5 GB. Download folders that are larger than 5 GB via the Yandex Disk desktop application following the instructions.
The file owner has disabled downloads
- If the file owner selected the Disable download option when creating the link, you won't be able to download the file or copy it to your Yandex Disk. The file can only be viewed from the public page. Ask the file owner to create a link that allows file downloads.
The browser doesn't display the page correctly

To reduce traffic consumption, the browser saves copies of visited pages in the cache. When you view these pages again, the browser may load them from the memory. If you change the file name in the desktop application and the browser loads information about this file from memory, you will see an outdated file name.
Try refreshing the page to load its updated version. If the problem persists, clear the browser cache and delete all cookies.
Extensions block Yandex Disk
- Yandex Disk may work incorrectly due to browser add-ons and extensions. To check if this is the case, temporarily disable them. If Yandex Disk is working incorrectly because of an ad-block or an antivirus extension, add Yandex Disk to the list of exceptions for that extension.

Follow the instructions for your browser to disable data blocking:
Yandex Browser
- Open your browser settings.
- Go to Websites.
- Scroll down and click Advanced site settings.
- Scroll down to Cookies.
- Disable Restrict third-party cookies.
Mozilla Firefox
- ****Open the browser settings.
- Go to Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data.
- Click Manage Exceptions....
- In the field Address of website, enter
https://disk.yandex.com/client/disk
. - Click Allow.
- Save your changes.
Google Chrome
- Open your browser settings.
- In the left menu, select Privacy and security.
- Go to Site settings and click Third-party cookies.
- ****Disable it.
Opera
- Open your browser settings.
- Go to Privacy & security.
- Open Site settings → Third-party cookies.
- ****Disable it.
Edge
- Open the browser settings.
- Go to Cookies and site permissions.
- Under Cookies and site data, you'll see the option Block third-party cookies.
- ****Disable it.
Internet Explorer
- Open the browser properties.
- Go to Privacy and click Advanced.
- Under Third-party cookies, select Accept.
- Save your changes.
You are using an outdated browser
- An outdated browser may not support the technologies used for fast and convenient page loading. Install the latest version of your browser.
Your Internet connection is affected by an antivirus, firewall, or proxy
- Yandex Disk may work incorrectly due to an antivirus, firewall, or proxy server. To check if this is the case, temporarily disable them. If Yandex Disk is malfunctioning because of the antivirus or firewall, add the Yandex Disk site to the exceptions of this program.
The internet connection slowed down
- Check your connection speed at yandex.com/internet. Close all tabs in your browser except Yandex Disk. Turn off applications that use the internet and refresh the page.
