# Log in, log out, and manage your account

## Log in to Yandex Disk {#login}

You can log in to your Yandex Disk from any device with an internet connection. To do this, type [disk.yandex.com](https://disk.yandex.com) in your browser's address bar, enter your username and password click **Log in**. If you use or have previously used a combination of a permanent and one-time password, you'll need a [one-time password](https://yandex.com/support/id/authorization/otp.html#how-receive) generated by the Yandex Key app to log in.

Yandex Disk is only available to users with Yandex ID. Yandex Disk no longer supports login via social networks as of January 1, 2023. To learn more, see [Help for Yandex ID](https://yandex.com/support/id/social.html).

To quickly access Yandex Disk, bookmark the Yandex Disk page or make it your browser's home page.

If you connect to the internet from someone else's device and don't want the browser to save your username and password, enable [private mode](https://yandex.com/support/common/browsers-settings/incognito.html).

To learn how to access your cloud storage from the Yandex Disk desktop application, see the Help sections for [Windows](https://yandex.com/support/disk-desktop-windows/start.html#auth), [macOS](https://yandex.com/support/disk-desktop-macos/start.html#auth), and [Linux](https://yandex.com/support/disk-desktop-linux/start.html#cli-setup). To learn how to authorize in a mobile app, see instructions for [Android](https://yandex.com/support/disk-app-android/auth.html#login) and [iOS](https://yandex.com/support/disk-app-ios/auth.html#login). In unofficial programs, use [app passwords](https://yandex.com/support/id/authorization/app-passwords.html) to access Yandex Disk.

## Switch to another account {#switch-accounts}

If you use several Yandex accounts, you can switch between them without entering your username and password:
![](_assets/exit-1.png)

You can choose an account in Yandex Disk, Yandex Mail, and other Yandex services that support this feature. This account is considered the primary account: it is used to authorize you in services that don't support switching yet.

You can add no more than 15 Yandex IDs to the list. To remove an account from the list, switch to that account and follow the **Log out** link. The current username disappears from the list and you automatically switch to the next one.

## Log out from Yandex Disk {#exit}

Open the account menu in the top right corner of the screen and click **Log out**.

If you forgot to log out of Yandex Disk on someone else's device, go to [Yandex ID](https://passport.yandex.com) → **Security** → **Devices** and click **Log out on all devices**.

{% note alert %}

For further access to Yandex services, you will need to re-enter your username and password on each device.

{% endnote %}

## How do I change my password or the answer to my security question? {#change-password}

For security reasons, we recommend changing your password every 6 months.

Your [Yandex ID](https://passport.yandex.com) account is a one-stop gateway to all Yandex services.

To change your password, click **Update password** under **Login methods** on the [Security](https://id.yandex.com/security) page. For information on other login methods, see [Log in to Yandex](https://yandex.com/support/id/auth.html) in Help for Yandex ID.

{% note alert %}

After you change your password, all sessions under your username on other computers are automatically terminated.

{% endnote %}

To change your security question or answer, open the **Security** page, go to [Recovery methods](https://id.yandex.com/security#recovery-methods), and click **Security question**.

## Data transfer from another cloud storage {#import-from-other-platforms}

If you need to move your files from another cloud storage to Yandex Disk, download these files to your computer, then upload them to your Yandex Disk.

The Yandex Disk application simplifies this process: it supports large data transfers, pauses and resumes uploads during connection interruptions, and allows you to upload files from a dedicated folder on your computer.

How to transfer files through the Yandex Disk desktop application:

1. Download your files from the cloud to your computer.
1. Install the [Yandex Disk application](https://360.yandex.com/disk/download/) and launch it.
1. Log in to your Yandex account to transfer files.
1. Drag the files into the application window or the Yandex Disk folder on your computer.
1. Wait for the upload to complete.

For information on how to use the Yandex Disk application, see [Yandex Disk for desktop](https://yandex.com/support/yandex-360/customers/disk/web/en/desktop.md).

## What happens if I don't use Yandex Disk for a long time? {#inactive-user}

If you don't access or use Yandex Disk for more than two years, your account may be blocked and its data may be deleted.

### Email with a block warning {#warning}

We'll notify you about the upcoming block in advance. Within seven days of receiving the email, you can manually cancel the block. To do this, simply log in to Yandex Disk.

### Yandex Disk block {#Lock}

If you don't cancel the block within 7 days of receiving the warning, your Yandex Disk will be blocked. After that, you have three months to lift the block. We'll regularly remind you about the upcoming data deletion so that you have time to unblock Yandex Disk.

To lift the block and restore full access to Yandex Disk:
1. [Contact](https://yandex.com/support/disk/blocked.html) support. Specify the blocked account username in the email.
1. Wait for a response email — we'll unblock Yandex Disk.

{% note alert %}

If you don't regain access to Yandex Disk within 3 months, all your files will be permanently deleted.

{% endnote %}

## Delete your Yandex Disk account {#del-disk}

Yandex Disk is enabled by default for all Yandex users and can't be disabled. So it is impossible to delete a Yandex Disk account. But you can [delete all files](https://yandex.com/support/yandex-360/customers/disk/web/en/actions-files/spec-folders/trash.md) on Yandex Disk and stop using it. In this case, you still can access other Yandex services (for example, Yandex Mail).

If you want to delete the entire Yandex account, read the article [Deleting your account](https://yandex.com/support/id/delete.html). In this case, all of your data across all Yandex services is deleted and you lose access to these services.
