Switching between companies and external chats

In Yandex Messenger, employees can use external chats to communicate with people outside the company, and internal chats to communicate within the company. If an employee works in multiple companies, they can switch between chats in Yandex Messenger.

Features of company chats

External users can't access the company in Yandex Messenger.

  • Only contacts from the company's address book are displayed.
  • External users won't be able to join chats unless you grant them partial or full access to the company. How to grant access

Everything your employees need for work:

  • You can add individual employees, as well as entire departments or groups to company chats. If you change the members in the admin console, the chat list updates automatically. How to add a department or group
  • Employee profiles show the departments and groups they belong to.
  • Employees have access to all Yandex Messenger features: chatting, creating channels, calls, and file sharing.

How to separate company chats from external ones

If your company was registered before July 1, 2022, submit a support request. After that, all private and group chats between employees will be moved to the company workspace. How to move an external chat to the company workspace

If there are external users in the chat, Yandex Messenger won't move it to the company workspace for security reasons. Ask the chat admin to:

  1. Remove external users from the chat.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click ( in iOS ) and select Move chat.

The employee's company chats have disappeared

The employee might have switched to external chats. To switch back to company chats, click the drop-down menu in the upper-left corner and select the company.
