Domain verification
Before connecting a domain to your organization, Yandex needs to make sure that you're it's actual owner.
There are several ways you can verify a domain.
-
The easiest way that's available immediately after registering a domain is to create a special temporary DNS record. This record can serve as proof of domain ownership, because only the owner can manage DNS records.
-
If your domain is already connected to a hosting, you can verify the domain by placing a special HTML file on it or adding a tag to the existing one.
How to obtain data for domain verification
- Open the organization's account admin.yandex.ru.
- In the menu, select General settings → Domains.
- Enter the domain name and click Add domain.
- Select the verification method and follow the instructions on the screen.
How to add data to your domain
To add a DNS record that confirms your ownership of the domain, you need to open the DNS management dashboard on the registrar's website. The dashboards of different registrars may vary slightly, but the principle is always the same.
If you have questions, follow the instructions provided by the registrar:
If your registrar is not on the list, find the instructions in their knowledge base.
DNS records are not updated instantly.
The process may take up to 72 hours.
To confirm ownership of the domain this way, add the file or tag according to the instructions in the account.
Technically, this process is no different from making any other changes on your website — just use the tools that you're familiar with.
What to do if the domain is delegated but not verified
To verify such a domain, you need to cancel the delegation: revert to the primary and secondary DNS servers that the registrar offers by default. After that, go through the domain verification process and then re-delegate the domain.
DNS records, or Domain Name System resource records, contain information about a domain and help determine how it's associated with other network resources: to which server it's bound, to which name servers it's delegated, and which mail server it uses. The main types of DNS records are A, NS, MX, and TXT.
