How do I make Yandex.Browser the default browser?

To make Yandex.Browser the default browser, follow these steps:

  1. Start the browser and click Settings.
  2. In the Default browser section, click Make Yandex.Browser the default browser.

How do I set the start (home) page?

Instead of showing a start page when launching, Yandex.Browser shows either the Tableau with the most frequently visited pages, or tabs that were left open the last time. To select the preferred option, click SettingsOn startup.

How can I transfer settings from another browser to Yandex.Browser?

The new Yandex.Browser can transfer your bookmarks, browsing history, and other settings from another browser installed on your computer.

  1. Click Settings.

  2. In the Users section, click Import bookmarks and settings from another browser.
  3. In the Import bookmarks and settings window, select the browser to take data from, and choose which specific data you want to transfer.

  4. Click the Import button.

Why were my settings imported without permission?

The settings were imported from another browser automatically because you agreed to this when installing Yandex.Browser.

How can I enable JavaScript support?

Note. By default, JavaScript support is enabled.

To allow JavaScript:

  1. Click the button Settings.

  2. In the lower part of the Settings page, click the Show advanced settings button.

  3. In the Privacy section, click Content settings.
  4. In the JavaScript section, set the option Allow JavaScript on all sites (recommended).

What are exceptions and how do I set them up?

Various processing rules can be set for site elements. You can also set exceptions for a specific site, and different rules will apply to that site.

You can set exceptions for the following items in browser settings: cookies, images, JavaScript, plug-ins, pop-ups, the mouse cursor

Setting an exception for a specific site
  1. Click the button

  2. In the lower part of the Settings page, click the Show advanced settings button.

  3. In the Privacy section, click Content settings.
  4. In the appropriate section, click Manage exceptions.
  5. Enter the site address in the box.
  6. Select an action in the drop-down list: Block, Allow, or For the current session.
  7. Click Done.

Note. The For the current session option for cookie exceptions allows saving cookie files only during the current session (until the browser is closed).

Removing an exception
  1. Click the button

How can I find out which elements are blocked on a page?

In many cases, icons appear in the right half of the address bar indicating that:

  • — cookies are blocked on the site
  • — images are blocked on the site
  • — JavaScript is blocked on the site
  • — plug-ins are blocked on the site

To find out which elements are blocked on a page:

  1. Right-click on the page.
  2. In the context menu, select View page info.

A menu will open that lists all the permissions for this page.

How do I change font size or page zoom?

To change font size or page zoom:

  1. Click the button

      Settings.
  2. In the lower part of the Settings page, click the Show advanced settings button.

  3. Go to the Web content section.
  4. Make the desired settings in Font size and Page zoom.

    — Decrease zoom (or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + minus).

    — Increase zoom (or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + plus).

    Ctrl + 0 — Set the page zoom to 100%.

    — Maximize window to full screen.

How do I turn off Searchness mode?

To turn off Searchness mode:

  1. Click the icon Settings.

  2. In the lower part of the Settings page, click the Show advanced settings button.

  3. Go to the Web content section.
  4. Turn off displaying search queries in the SmartBox (the Enable display of search queries in SmartBox on search results pages option).

How do I change encoding?

To change the page encoding:

  1. Click  AdvancedToolsEncoding.
  2. Set the appropriate page encoding.

Attention! Displaying text in certain languages may require installing additional fonts on your computer.

How do I turn on spellcheck?

  1. Click the icon Settings.

  2. In the lower part of the Settings page, click the Show advanced settings button.

  3. In the Languages section, click the Language and input settings button.
  4. Select the option Enable spell checking.
  1. Close all programs. In the upper-left corner, click the icon System settings.
  2. In the Personal section, select Language & Text.
  3. Switch to the Text tab.
  4. Make sure that English is selected in the Spelling list, and the Correct errors automatically option is turned on.
  5. Open Yandex.Browser and go to the text field.
  6. Open the context menu and select Spelling and Grammar.
  7. Make sure that the option Check spelling when typing is turned on.
  8. Select Spell check and select English in the drop-down list.

Note. These are all the possible steps that you may need to complete. However, some of these steps may not be necessary if the settings are already made in the system.

How do I enable syncing?

  1. Click  Syncing.
  2. In the Syncing window, enter your login and password on Yandex.

    Note. If you haven't registered on Yandex yet, click the link Create account in the same window, and follow the instructions.

  3. Click the Enable syncing button.
  4. Click the link Change settings and indicate which settings should be synced.
