What to do if problems are detected on your site

Yandex Webmaster checks your site daily. All detected errors are displayed on the Website optimization → Site diagnostics page. You can subscribe to error notifications.

Step 1. Fix the detected errors

Select the category of the detected problem and follow the instructions:

Category

Description

Note

Fatal

Checks the server connection, site availability for indexing, security and compliance with the Yandex guidelines.

Issues in this category may cause individual pages or the entire site to be excluded from search results.

We recommend monitoring these errors and fixing them as soon as possible.

Critical

The robot checks the number of broken internal links, the server response time, and that there is a valid SSL certificate.

Possible issues

Checks for valid Sitemap and robots.txt files, indexing enabled for pages with the Yandex Metrica tag, settings for displaying non-existent files, the number of duplicate pages, the presence of redirects, annoying ads, and so on.

These issues may affect the quality and speed of site indexing.

Recommendations

These suggestions are usually aimed at improving the site's ranking in search results.

Use them to improve the site's representation in search results.

Step 2. Wait for the site to be rechecked.

The Yandex robot learns about updates on the site the next time it visits. To speed this up:

  1. Submit the updated pages for reindexing. The robot will crawl the page within two weeks.
  2. Make sure the robot crawled the page — check the URL status.
  3. On the Website optimization → Site diagnostics page, check whether the problem you fixed is still there. If it is, click Verify.

If Yandex Webmaster does not detect the issue again, the message about it will disappear.

If you are sure that you fixed the error, but the message about it is still displayed in Yandex Webmaster, wait a while. In this case, the error message does not affect the indexing of your site.
