Notifications

When you add a site in Yandex Webmaster or confirm your site management rights in the service, you receive access to information about changes to the site in search results. For example, you can find out which pages appeared in search results or disappeared from them.

To receive notifications about changes, set up notifications for each individual topic:

Weekly site summary

The service prepared a summary of changes to the site: Yandex Webmaster offers a brief summary and a full summary. Notifications are sent only by email.

The summary is generated for the period from Monday to Sunday.

Brief summary
  • Critical and fatal issues.
  • Changes to pages in the search.
  • Changes in clicks by search queries.
  • Changes in clicks for the whole site.
  • Page links that have the maximum number of clicks in the search and the maximum number of displays from Monday to Sunday.
  • Solved issues.
  • Assigning a region to the site.
  • Changes to the list of important pages. If pages are not added to the list of important ones, you will be offered a list of pages recommended for tracking.
  • Appearance of reviews about your site.
Full summary
  • Summary contents.
  • Additional information about Yandex Webmaster and other Yandex services.

Updating the search engine database and indexing site pages.

Updating the main site address

The bot chose a different URL as the main site address.

Delegating site management rights

Other Yandex Webmaster users got site management rights. To change the list of users managing the site, go to Settings → Access rights.

Site geo targeting region change

The site’s regional affiliation has changed. To check the site region, go to Display in the search → Site region.

Modifying the robots.txt file

The file contents changed since it was last accessed by the robot. For the file change history, see the Robots.txt analysis section.

Appearance of subdomains in search

Subdomains of your site have appeared in search results.

Requests from Yandex Metrica

A Yandex Metrica user requested confirmation for linking the tag to the site.

Crawling by Yandex Metrica tags isn't enabled.

The site is linked to the Yandex Metrica counter, but page crawling is not enabled yet. For more information, see Indexing a site with the Yandex Metrica tag. The first notification comes a day after the linking request is confirmed.

Yandex Webmaster updated the sample pages. To view them, go to Indexing → Tags crawl.

Site reviews

A Yandex user wrote a review of your site. Yandex Webmaster regularly checks for new reviews. To view reviews, go to Site quality → Reviews.

In Yandex Webmaster, you can track site pages you consider important and get notifications about changes in search concerning these pages.

The title specified in the title element changed.

Changes in the last crawl date

The robot visited a site page.

Changes in the page code

The robot visited a site page, and the response code changed.

Changes in the page version in the search

The robot detected that the page content changed. The notification contains the date when the robot found out about the changes.

Changes in the search status

The page status changed. For example, the robot determined that the page is a low-demand page and excluded it from search results.

Changes in the description tag

The Description meta tag content changed.

Changes in "Canonical"

The reference to the page's canonical address changed.

Configuring notifications

You can receive notifications:

  • In the Yandex Webmaster interface.
  • By email.
  • In Telegram.
  • As push notifications in Yandex Browser and the Yandex mobile app.

You can set up notifications for all the sites that you have access to in Yandex Webmaster or for each site individually.

There are several notification settings statuses:

Receive notification (active status)

— indicates that general settings are in effect. Displayed in the settings for the site

If shared settings are not in effect for a particular site, specify whether you want to receive notifications of this type.

* This setting is only available for some message topics.

To switch between active, inactive and default statuses of notifications, click the status icon.

General notification settings

These settings apply to all sites verified in Yandex Webmaster for the user.

To change the way you receive notifications:

  1. In Yandex Webmaster, click bell at the bottom of the main menu to open the Notifications page.

  2. Click the Configure button.

  3. In the Address for email notifications section, select the email address for receiving notifications from Yandex Webmaster. The available addresses match those in your Yandex ID. To change the address, choose the address from the list and click the Change address button.

    How to specify an address that is not in the list

    Select Other address from the list. The account settings open. Enter your email in the Add a backup address for restoring access and click Add address. Then confirm your access to it. After verifying access, refresh the settings page in Yandex Webmaster. The added email address appears in the list.

    To receive notifications only in Yandex Webmaster, choose No email notifications from the list. In this case, you won't receive notifications even if the message is in the active status.

    To receive notifications in Telegram, click Link account. A message with a link will be sent to you in Telegram. When you follow the link, a verification code will be automatically pasted in the Enter the verification code field.
    Click Verify.

  4. Choose a status for each notification topic.

Notification settings per site

Use these settings to change how you receive notifications or choose a set of notifications that differs from the general settings.

If you are subscribed to messages about all websites, but you only want to receive notifications about one or several certain websites, disable general notifications you don't need and set up messages for the desired website according to the instructions below.

  1. In Yandex Webmaster, click bell at the bottom of the main menu to open the Notifications page.

  2. Click Configure.

  3. In the dropdown list in the main menu on the left, select the site that you want to configure notifications for. Another way to select a site is to click the link at the bottom of the settings page.

  4. On the Configure notifications for the site page, choose a status for each notification topic.
    Here you can set up notifications about the site and the pages you consider important. By default, all topics have the status. This means that general settings are enabled.

Viewing notifications in the service

Note

Notifications about changes on the secondary mirror of the site may not be received, as the information about them is not current.

To view messages, go to Notifications. By default, the list shows all messages. You can:

  • View critical notifications.
  • Filter notifications by site. To do this, select a site from the dropdown list.
  • Select and delete multiple notifications.
