How can I use visual translation?

To translate text from photos and images, you need to:

  1. Open the application. Click .

  2. Take a photo of the text you wish to translate, or choose an image from your Gallery or Camera Roll.

Can I translate blocks of text, and not just words?

To translate text in blocks, you need to change the text recognition mode:

  1. Take a photo of the text you wish to translate.

  2. In the lower left corner of the screen, tap and select Blocks.

My image looks really dark/strange after using visual translation. What should I do?

I can't find the camera button in the application. What should I do?

The button will not appear if text has been typed into the translation field.

The camera doesn't open when I tap the camera button. What should I do?

  1. In the Settings, check to make sure offline mode is disabled. If it's active, turn it off.

  2. Check your input language. Optical character recognition for images only works if the text is in one of the following languages: Chinese, Czech, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, or Ukrainian.
  3. If offline mode is disabled and one of the languages listed above is being used but it still doesn't work, then contact the developers using the feedback form below. Describe your problem in as much detail as possible and attach a screenshot before you submit your message.

Why does the camera not recognize a particular text?

The application cannot recognize text in an image if the image is not sufficiently clear, or if the text is handwritten in cursive. Please try to use a clear image.

Problems with your internet connection may also affect how well text recognition works.
