Visual translation is only available online.

Use visual translation

To translate text from photos and images, you need to:

  1. Open the application. Click .

  2. Take a photo of the text you want to translate, or choose an image from your Gallery or Camera Roll.

Turn on visual translation for sentences (not individual words)

To translate text in blocks, you need to change the text recognition mode:

  1. Take a photo of the text you want to translate.

  2. In the lower-left corner of the app, tap and select Blocks.

The image looks really dark/strange after using visual translation.

The camera button dissapeared

The button will not appear if text has been typed into the translation field.

The camera doesn't open when I tap the camera button

  1. In the Settings, check to make sure offline mode is disabled. If it's on, turn it off.

  2. Check your input language. Optical character recognition for images only works if the text is in one of the following languages: Chinese, Czech, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, or Ukrainian.

The camera doesn't recognize text

The application cannot recognize text if the image is blurry or the text is handwritten in cursive. Try using a clear image.

Problems with your internet connection may also adversely affect the text recognition feature.
