Create and change a topic

Alert

Search topics can't be used to organize new searches.

You can use a search topic to include up to 100,000 sites of the same subject in the search area. If the limit of 50 sites that can be specified manually in the search area is too small for you, create your own search topic. To do that, open the Search topics page and click Create custom search.

You can create no more than 1000 search topics.

When creating a topic, specify the following parameters:

  • Topic: The name by which you can recognize the topic in the Yandex Site Search interface. For the topic name to pass moderation, it must accurately reflect the site topic.

  • Description: A description of what the sites are about. The topic description should help moderators check whether any given site belongs to the topic.

  • Name: The name that the Yandex Site Search moderators will address the topic owner by.

  • Site: The address of the site where you want to place a search on the created topic.

  • Email: An email address where the topic owner can be contacted.

  • Site list: A list of sites that you want include in the search topic. Enter sites, not individual pages: the site will be checked for compliance with the topic in its entirety.

If you plan to update the site list using HTTP requests, enter the IP address from which the requests will be made in the IP address field.

Every search topic must pass moderation: we need to make sure that the listed sites are really about the same subject. After passing moderation, the topic must also be added to the main search index (it takes 7–10 days).

You can use the moderated and indexed topic to organize search on the topic sites using Yandex Site Search or Yandex XML.
