# Snippet

A snippet is a block of information about a webpage that is shown in search results. The snippet includes the title and description of the page, and may also contain additional information about the site.

From snippets, users can get a general idea of the page or the information they need without visiting the site. The snippet may consist of the following elements:

- [Favicon](https://yandex.com/support/search/en/search-results/favicon.md).
- [Title and description](https://yandex.com/support/search/en/search-results/doc-title.md).
- Website address. In some cases, the snippet for internal pages shows the address as [breadcrumbs](https://yandex.com/support/webmaster/search-results/navigation.html#navigation).
- Publication date.

The snippet can be displayed as a [rich answer](https://yandex.com/support/webmaster/search-results/rich-snippet.html). That's an extended snippet with additional information about a site or organization. It can contain sitelinks, the organization's address, and other details.

## Displaying the site title and description in search results {#changing-header-description}

The title and description in the search results are generated based on:

**Page content**

 
:   - The contents of the [title](https://yandex.com/support/webmaster/search-results/title.html#description) element.
    - The contents of the [description](https://yandex.com/support/webmaster/indexing-options/description.html#description) meta tag.
    - The text of the page, including the [Schema.org](https://yandex.com/support/webmaster/en/schema-org/intro-schema-org) microformat. [A full list of special data](https://yandex.com/support/webmaster/en/site-content/data-transmit#data-transmit) that can be sent.

:   - Yandex Market.
    - The text of links to the page that are posted on other sites.


In the search results, the most informative and relevant text is used to describe the page.
