How to set up a public account
You can publish different content on Yandex, such as articles, images, videos, collections, ads, surveys, questions and answers, ratings, and reviews. Your posts are signed with your public ID: a photo, name, and link to your public account.
This helps other users recognize your content, contact you, subscribe to your account, and receive notifications about new publications.
You can set up a public account on Yandex. This makes your publications more identifiable and makes it more convenient to talk to other users.
Change your public photo
By default, Yandex services display the photo that you provided during registration.
You can change the photo that appears in your public account:
- Open your public account settings.
- Hover over your photo and click
.
- Upload an image.
- Click Save.
The new photo will be used in all Yandex services, as well as in emails in Yandex.Mail.
You can change your public photo whenever you want. It will be replaced in both new and old publications.
Change your display name
By default, Yandex services display the name that you provided during registration.
You can change the name that appears in your public account:
- Open your public account settings.
- Enter a new name under your photo.
- Click Save.
The new name will be used in all Yandex services, except for Yandex.Mail. To learn how to change the sender name in Yandex.Mail, see Personal information in Yandex.Mail Help.
You can change your display name whenever you want. It will be replaced in both new and old publications. If your account is verified, you can change your display name by contacting our support service.
Your display name isn't unique: multiple users may have the same display name on Yandex.
Change your account address
By default, the public account address is created automatically. It is used in links to your public account on Yandex services.

Account address | Page ID | |
https://yandex.ru/user/z7574jvvcbe9vgwc0 | z7574jvcbe9vgwc0 | — generated automatically |
↓ | ↓ | |
https://yandex.ru/user/yandex | yandex | — the first custom value |
↓ | ↓ | |
https://yandex.ru/user/yandex-arcady | yandex-arcady | — the second custom value |

This is because we store all previous addresses so that users can find your public account using old links.
- Two users can't have the same ID (this applies to both automatically generated and custom values).
- A public address can't be the same as another user's username, but it can match the user's own username.
Public addresses are not case-sensitive.
Violation of rights
Your public ID, including your public photo, display name, and account address, can't contain elements that are used to indicate a registered trademark or brand name if you do not hold the rights to them.
Display names may not violate standards of ethics (for example, by containing obscene language) or applicable law.
If the public ID of a Yandex user violates standards of ethics or your rights to means of individualization, such as a trademark, fill in the form.
