Managing reports in the Yandex Advertising Network

Creating a report

To create a report, go to Statistics.

Another way to open product-specific reports (as well as reports sorted by site, video resource, or ad unit) is to open a page with a list of sites (such as Ads on websites → Sites and ad units) or a list of units (such Ads on websites → Sites and ad units → Ad units). Find the site or ad unit you need in the list and click Statistics.

Step 1. Choose a report template or create your own report

Select the appropriate report template from the list on the left. If there is no suitable template, choose a template that fits your needs best. You can specify the parameters later.

You can also create a report manually. To do this, click +New in the list of reports.

Step 2. Choose a currency

By default, all financial indicators are displayed in rubles. If necessary, change the report currency in the drop-down list at the top of the screen:

Warning

If you receive remuneration in dollars or euros, the remuneration amount in the report may differ from the amount paid. This is because remuneration is calculated in rubles and converted into another currency at different rates:

  • For statistics: At the rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation at the day of the impression.
  • For payment: At the rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation on the last day of the reporting period.
Example of calculating remuneration in dollars

Let's assume the partner receives remuneration in dollars. In September, they had the following impression count:

  • September 9 — for 200 rubles
  • September 16 — for 240 rubles
  • September 23 — for 260 rubles
  • September 30 — for 280 rubles

How the remuneration to be paid is calculated

To pay remuneration, the partner's total monthly income (980 rubles) is converted to dollars at the exchange rate of the Central Bank of Russia on the last day of the reporting period (September 30):

980 rubles / 70 rubles per $1 = $14

The difference between the remuneration amount in the report and the amount paid is $2.

Step 3. Specify the report dates

Select the report timeframe from the list at the top of the screen or specify the desired dates in the calendar.

If you wish to save your report, keep in mind the following:

  • If you selected the dates via the calendar, the next time a report is generated, it will use the same dates.
  • If you selected a report timeframe from the list, the next time a report is generated, it will use the current date as the start of the timeframe.

To compare reports from two different timeframes:

  1. Specify the dates of the first timeframe in the calendar.
  2. Enable the Compare option next to the calendar. Another calendar will then appear.
  3. Use the second calendar to select the starting point of the second timeframe. The calendar automatically tracks dates for consistency (the timeframes must have same number of days with no date overlap). Because of this, you can only select the dates highlighted in black. The end date will be calculated automatically.

Step 4. Configure filters, groups, and metrics

If you're using a template to create your report, the main parameters will be set automatically. You can always add new parameters or remove parameters that are already in place.

If you're creating a report from scratch, you will need to set all the parameters manually.

Filters define the data that your report will be based on. You can filter reports by specific website, ad unit, site, and so on. To add a filter:

1. Click +Filters.

2. Select the parameter you want to use to filter the data for your report (such as ad unit ID). To more easily find the parameter you need, simply start typing its name in the search bar or switch to the desired parameter group.

3. Specify a value for your parameter.

Groups determine the parameters which will be used to group information in the reports.

To add a parameter for grouping, click +Groups and select the desired parameter from the list.

When generating a report, groupings are applied in the same order they're listed in the report settings. If you wish to edit the grouping rules, click and hold the grouping's name and drag it to the desired location.

Metrics are statistics that you can view for the selected data range.

To add a metric, click +Metrics and select the desired metric from the list. You can view the metric's value in Glossary or by hovering your cursor over the icon next to the metric's name.

When generating a report, the metrics are arranged in the same order they're listed in the +Metrics line. If you wish to edit their order, click and hold the metric's name and drag it to the desired location.

Data limits in charts

When choosing parameters, please keep in mind that the chart in your report may be incomplete if there is too much data. This restriction is applied to avoid issues when rendering charts.

For reports with a lot of data, all the rows in the table are sorted by the selected metrics in descending order and only the first 500 rows are taken into account when rendering the report chart. Moreover, groupings are only included in the chart if all their data for the desired period made it into the first 500 rows. If some of the grouping's data is excluded from the first 500 rows, the grouping will not be shown in the chart at all.

If you wish to display all of the report's data on the chart, you can limit the amount of data listed in the report via filters, shorten the report's timeframe, or reduce the number of groupings in the report. You don't need to limit the number of metrics used in the report, because they don't affect the number of rows displayed in the table.

Report limit example

Let's say a partner has 5 sites with 5 ad units on each, making for a total of 25 ad units.

If you create a 30-day report for all 25 ad units, grouped by day and ad unit ID, then the report table will include 750 rows.

Rendering all of this information on a line chart would require drawing 25 lines for each selected metric. However, if the 30-day chart is restricted to only 500 rows, the complete chart will only be generated for the first 16 ad unit ID values. The remaining 9 values will not be included in the chart.

Report setup example

Let's say you need to find out how much revenue you will receive for impressions using ad units for a week. To create this report:

  1. Filter the data so only ad units are displayed. To do this, click +Filters, switch to the Product group, and select Ad unit type. Select Ad units from the list that appears.
  2. Add grouping by day: +Groups → By day. This way you can track the change in revenue and the number of impressions during the selected week.
  3. Think about what parameters you want to group your income and impression data by other than days. For example, if you wish to know which sites bring the most revenue, you can group your data by the domain, ID, and site name. Add the following groupings: Domain or Bundle ID, Site / App, App name / Site name.
  4. Select the following metrics: Viewable impressions and Revenue.

The report settings fields will look like this:

Step 5. Click Create report

A chart and a data table will then appear at the bottom of the page.

Viewing the report

You can view your report as a chart or as a table.

To enlarge the view area, collapse the list of reports on the left. To do this, click the icon above the list. You can also collapse the settings field using the button to the right of the report parameters.

You can display a line chart or a bar chart. You can switch the chart type using the buttons above the chart.

Line chart and bar chart

The horizontal axis displays the following information:

  • For line charts: groupings by period (days, weeks, months, years).
  • For bar charts: grouping intersections (if there are multiple groupings).

To remove a grouping from the chart, disable the grouping in the grouping list on the right.

The vertical axis displays the metric values. By default, only one metric is displayed on the chart right after it's been created. You can enable and disable metrics via the list located above the chart.

If your chart displays multiple metrics simultaneously, you can enable the legend to make things clearer. To do this, click the icon in the upper-right corner of the chart.

If you wish to view the exact value of a metric, hover your cursor over the corresponding row or column. A field with the name and value of the desired metric will then be displayed.

Pie chart

The pie chart shows the share of each grouping in the overall data volume. To remove a grouping from the chart, disable the grouping in the grouping list on the right.

You can choose the table type:

  • Simplified data table.
  • Hierarchical table with grouped data.

Hierarchical tables display structured data, with low-level items nested inside higher-level items. To switch from a simplified table to a hierarchical table, click . To return to the simplified table, click .

You can sort the data in the table using the icon in the column name:

  • Parameters with a number value (descending or ascending).
  • Parameters with a text value (alphabetically).

You can only sort data by one of the columns.

To swap columns, change the order of metrics or groupings in the report settings:

1. Click and hold the name of the desired metric or grouping and drag it to the desired location.

2. Click Update above the report settings.

Saving a report

You can use the following features to save report parameters:

  • Save: Adds the report with the currently used name to the Saved tab in the list on the left.

  • Save as: Lets you rename your report and then add it to the Saved tab.

  • Add to dashboard: Adds a widget with the report on your dashboard. However, the report itself will still be saved to the Saved tab.

  • : Stores the report locally as an XLSX file.

  • : Adds the report link to your clipboard (the report can only be accessed by authorized Yandex Advertising Network users).
