# Search ads

Search ads are displayed in site search results.

A mandatory requirement for the display of search ads is an explicit search query specified by the user. The site search results can be generated either by Yandex (using the Yandex Search service for sites), or by any third-party search software.

Ads are served in site search results using a **search site** to match the context of the user's search terms. There are two types of [Yandex Direct](https://direct.yandex.com/) search ads that can be displayed on these sites:

- “Premium placement”: Ads displayed above search results.

- “Remaining impressions”: Ads displayed below search results.


## Configuring a search site {#search-settings}

Search sites can use all the settings and features available to [sites](https://yandex.com/support/partner/en/web/adplatform.md).

To change the settings, click **Edit** in the line with the search site.

The following settings can be configured for the whole site (but not for individual ad units):

- [Add mirrors](https://yandex.com/support/partner/en/web/adplatform/mirrors.md) to add copies of your site that will also display Yandex ads.
- [Block unwanted ads](https://yandex.com/support/partner/en/web/adplatform/competitor-ads-block.md) for Yandex Direct ads.
- [Grant access](https://yandex.com/support/partner/en/web/adplatform/assistant-access.md) to an assistant.
- Add a [Yandex Metrica](https://metrika.yandex.com/) tag with full functionality and link it to the site.
- [Additional settings](https://yandex.com/support/partner/en/web/adplatform/additional-settings.md): Behavioral targeting and image display.

You can also specify your site's language. The language is selected for elements of ads and ad units, but doesn't impact the content of the ads. Ads are selected for each user individually. You can select between Russian (ru), Ukrainian (uk), English (en), Belarusian (by), Kazakh (kz), Turkish (tr), and Tatar (tt) languages.

## Family filter {#family-filter}

Adult ads can be shown on search sites in the Yandex Advertising Network in response to the user's exact search query.

You can enable or disable adult ads in the search site settings. To activate the family filter on the search site, go to the **Search ads** → **Search sites** tab, open the site settings, and enable the **Family filter** option.

- If the family filter is disabled and a user typed a query on an adult topic into the search bar on your site, then relevant ads may appear on the results page.
- If the family filter is enabled and a user typed a query on an adult topic into the search bar on your site, the results page won't have ads with this content.

## Yandex Metrica reports {#metrika-reports}

A new tag is automatically created in [Yandex Metrica](https://metrica.yandex.com/) for each search site to monitor its effectiveness.

After you place ads on your site pages, Yandex Metrica starts collecting traffic statistics for these pages. This data is included in reports: in the line with the site, click **More** → **Metrica reports**. ## Stopping and archiving the ad platform {#search-stop-and-delete}

To stop displaying all ads on a particular site, click **Stop impressions**. To resume impressions, click **Start impressions**.

A site that doesn't have statistics for impressions and clicks can be archived. To do this, click **Archive**. If the site has accumulated statistical data, make sure to stop ad impressions on this site before archiving it.

You can restore archived sites in the **Archive** tab.
