Turbo is a mode that is activated when the internet connection is slow in the browser (it is based on Opera Turbo technology from Opera Software). This helps speed up page loading and save your traffic. Pages load faster because the amount of data is reduced. Page contents are compressed on Yandex servers before sending them to the browser, and "heavy" page elements (such as multimedia) are not loaded at all.
When Turbo mode is activated, the Turbo icon appears in the right part of the title bar.
There are two thresholds that provide smooth automatic activation and deactivation of Turbo mode:
By default, the browser compresses video when Turbo mode is on. Playback of the compressed video begins when you click the placeholder. Compressed video additionally saves up to 70% of traffic, but reduces the video quality. To view video without loss of quality, disable video compression for the tab or entirely.
To turn off Turbo mode:
|Automatically enable for low connection speeds||The browser uses this mode by default.|
|Always on||Turbo mode is always on, and the icon is displayed in the right part of the page header. For a fast internet connection, Turbo mode might slow down page loading.|
|Off||Turbo mode is disabled. When the internet connection is slow, the icon is displayed in the right part of the page header (enabling Turbo mode is recommended).|
|Notify me about changes in connection speed||You will get browser messages about changes in the connection speed and about Turbo mode.|
|Compress video||You can view compressed video when Turbo mode is activated.|
