Supported platforms

Yandex.Navigator is supported on iOS 7 and higher and Android 3.0 and higher.

The app is not supported on the following platforms: Symbian, Java, Windows Mobile, Windows CE, bada. We can not guarantee that Yandex.Navigator will function stably on them.

If you installed the app on your device running on iOS 6 or lower, you can re-load an older version of the app on that device.

Where can I find it?

The Android version can be downloaded from the Yandex.Store.

If you experience problems downloading the app from Google Play, please contact Google support.

How is Yandex.Navigator different from Yandex.Maps?

The Yandex.Navigator interface is designed for use while driving and guides your movements with voice prompts.

What languages does Yandex.Navigator support?

Russian, English, Ukrainian, and Turkish.

If a different language is set on your device, the app will launch in English.

How can I find out what version of the app I have?

  1. Tap on the lower part of the screen to bring up the toolbar.

  2. Tap Menu .

  3. Select About: .

Where can I find the License Agreement?

How can I find out about other Yandex apps?

  1. Tap on the lower part of the screen to bring up the toolbar.

  2. Tap Menu .

  3. Select Other Yandex apps .

Do I need to adjust my device settings for the program to work properly?

Usually you don't.

You may need to adjust your settings if you blocked a certain function that may affect how the program works.

For example, if you disabled microphone access or Geolocation determination, then go to your device settings, find Yandex.Navigator, and change the value for the appropriate setting.


How do search suggestions work?

Suggestions include a list of places whose names relate to your search. These places are listed by order of distance from the center of your current map.

Click on your account in the list.

Suggestions only display if you are connected to the internet.

How can I clear my search history and set routes?

To delete your search history from the app memory and set routes:

  1. Tap on the lower part of the screen to bring up the toolbar.

  2. Tap Menu .

  3. Select Clear history.


Why is the route I requested not being set?

Routing is not available everywhere If you were not able to set your route, let us know.

Offline maps

What are offline maps and why are they useful?

Offline maps are city maps that are saved in your phone's memory. With offline maps, the app works faster and you consume less data.

Saved maps can only be used as images; you can't search for places or set routes on them.

My city's map is not in the list for downloading. What should I do?

If your city's map is not included in the list of those that can be downloaded, send us a message and we will let you know when it becomes available.

Offline maps of neighboring areas conflict with one another. What should I do?

Maps of neighboring areas may partially overlap with one another and contain conflicting data. We are working on correcting this error. Please excuse this temporary inconvenience.

To prevent this error, only use an offline map for one of of the regions in question.

Road events

What are road events?

Road events are map points plotted by the app's users.

They mark traffic accidents, road work, surveillance cameras, road closures, bridge openings, etc.

Additionally, there is a another type of "road event" called “conversations”.These are points where you can start a discussion on any permissible topic (read the answer to Why was I blocked from "conversations"? for a list of topics that aren't permitted).

How long will a message about a road event display?

Messages about road events will display for about 20 minutes. Every confirmation of that event that we receive from other users will prolong that time.

If you have information about a road event at a particular location (for example, if you spot a surveillance camera), let us know by writing to Yandex.Navigator support.

Why was I blocked from "conversations"?

Users can be blocked if they send messages with non-permissible content.

  • spam
  • disorderly conduct
  • non-standard vocabulary
  • hate speech or hostility
  • attempts to humiliate a person or group based on their sex, race, nationality, language, country of origin, religious beliefs, or membership in a particular social group.

If this is the first time you were blocked, the block will be lifted in 24 hours.

The block will not be lifted after your second offense.

How can I let Yandex know about traffic jams?

Information about your location and speed is sent to Yandex's server when you use the app. This data helps to analyze road congestion.

Attention! This data is obfuscated and confidential.

How current is traffic information?

Yandex.Traffic displays information provided by users of Yandex.Maps and Yandex.Navigator. See Traffic for information on how it's displayed.

The more frequently data is received, the more up-to-date it is. The current picture of the situation is kept for a certain time period. If new data comes in during that time, then the traffic display will change to reflect it. If there is no new data, then traffic information will stop displaying until new data comes in.

Push notifications

I can't enable Push notifications (iOS)

Go to your device'sSettings → Sounds and notifications, choose Yandex.Navigator and enable Allow notifications.

You can also get messages the following ways: In the center of notifications, Sounds, Icon labels, On a blocked screen.

I can't enable Push notifications (Android)

Go to your device's System settings → Sounds and notifications, choose Yandex.Navigator and Allow notifications.

I didn't get a notification on my phone or tablet

Maybe your phone can't access the internet. Make sure that you are connected to Wi-Fi or can exchange data and communications.

Possible problems

Why can't my location be determined?

You might not have enabled geolocation on your device. To turn it on:

  • Android 4.3 and earlier: in the menu Settings → My location turn on Using GPS.
  • Android 4.4 and higher: in the menu Settings → Location → Mode turn onUsing all sources or UsingGPS.
  • iOS: in the menu Settings → Privacy turn on Location Services. If these options are already enabled, then make sure nothing is blocking the GPS signal (like the roof of your car).

Why aren't voice commands working on iOS?

It might be because you didn't grant Yandex.Navigator access to your microphone in your device's settings.
