Visual tracking

The program reflects:

  • The current route segment.

To see the entire route, tap on the lower part of the screen. The toolbar opens. Tap Route .

To return to the route segment, tap on the lower part of the screen. The toolbar opens. Tap Map .

The following icons mark the key route points:

    • — Current location of your car as you drive along the route.
    • — Starting point.
    • Intermediary point.
    • — Points along the middle of the route and the middle of the segments between the intermediate points. If you drag these points to other places, the route will be replotted in accordance with the new positions of these points.
    • — Destination.
  • Route parameters:

    • — Distance to the destination and estimated time of arrival.
    • Amount of traffic along the route.
    • — Upcoming turns, including the type of turn and distance to it.
    • — Speed limit along a route section (if you need to correct it, tap the icon):

  • Number of lanes: shown in the popup for the current location. Lanes that you can take on your route are colored white against a black background and those you can't are colored gray.

The popup in the image means that you should use the two left lanes that are highlighted for that point on your route.

If the North is always up setting is enabled (see the Appearance section), then the number of lanes is not displayed while en route.

In the current version of the app lane directions are shown in several large cities, when making complex turns and at intersections, and on straight sections of road when it is important for the driver to choose certain lanes in order to stay on route.

Lane designations may include reference symbols/icons:

    • ─ lanes for public transport. If the driver is allowed to use these lanes in the current situation (for example, to turn right from the rightmost lane), a white arrow will be shown to indicate that this lane can be used by cars.
    • If it is not recommended that the driver use this lane, then a gray arrow will be shown with a warning icon:
    • ─ tram tracks.
    • If the arrow displays with a white T icon, it means that cars can use the tram lane. If the arrow is gray or there is no arrow (only the letter Т is shown), then cars should not use the tram lane.
    • ─ Taxi lanes (in places where such dedicated lanes exist).
    • ─ Bike lanes. Cars may never travel in these lanes.

Route changes

To change your route, you can set intermediary points along the way.

Additionally, the app includes a function that lets you re-route your journey. Yandex.Navigator will tell you about alternative routes if the following two circumstances apply:

  1. If the new route is at least 5 minutes faster than the current one,

  2. If there is no more than 10 minutes (otherwise the road situation may change) but not less than 1 minute (so that the driver has enough time to make a decision, such as, for example, plotting a new route) until the next turn.

You can select a new route by tapping Overview when a new route notification appears on the button: .

Background navigation

To enable background navigation (i.e. hear voice prompts about upcoming directions even when the app has been minimized):

Routes to parking
