What is "Order management" for?

For many businesses, crucial sales steps happen after the site visit:

  • Manager calls to confirm the order.
  • Invoice or proposal is sent.
  • Customer pays after delivery or when the service is complete.
  • Contract is signed offline, and so on.

Typically, these actions are logged in spreadsheets, messengers, or CRM systems and are disconnected from the original session in Yandex Metrica. As a result:

  • It's hard to tell which sessions and ad campaigns actually lead to paying customers.
  • Offline events don't appear in Yandex Direct reports and strategies.
  • Offline conversions are often not used at all.

With the Order management, you can:

  • Find sessions with inquiries and link them to orders with revenue and statuses.
  • Link order statuses to Yandex Metrica goals, which are triggered in the session when an order is assigned the relevant status.

By linking sessions to order statuses, these offline events become regular Yandex Metrica conversions. You can then work with these conversions in reports and use them in Yandex Direct.

Key concepts

  • Session: A site visit that you process in the Unsorted sessions section.
  • Unsorted session: A session where one of your selected goals was achieved (like a phone click or form submission) and which can be linked to a customer's order.
  • Customer: Information about a customer. A customer can have multiple orders linked to them.
  • Order: A record of a deal created from a session. An order has several attributes: ID, customer, revenue, status, and comments.
  • Order status: A stage in the deal, such as In progress, Paid, Canceled, Spam, or custom statuses.
  • Goal for status: A Yandex Metrica goal linked to a status. When an order's status changes, a conversion for that goal is recorded in the session.
