How to link an order to a session

Find the session and open the order form

  1. In the Unsorted sessions section, find the session you need.

  2. Open the session card and click the Link order button, or use the create order button in the session row.

  3. The New order form will open.

Customer section

At the top of the form, choose who you are working with:

  • New customer: Creates a new customer card.
  • Existing customer: Lets you search for and select an existing customer by name, phone, email, or other identifiers.

Customer-related fields:

  • Customer name: Any convenient name (e.g., "John D.," "Acme Inc.," "Yandex Direct Campaign," "John Doe").
  • Phone and email: Contact details (some characters will be masked in the interface after submission).
  • Customer comment: Any relevant notes, such as "regular customer," "VIP," or "found us on YouTube."

If you select an existing customer, the fields will be pre-filled with their data. You can add more information if needed.

Order section

Below, you can set the parameters for the order:

  • Order ID

    You can:

    • Let the system auto-generate an ID
    • Or manually enter the ID you use in your CRM or spreadsheets.

Auto-generated IDs make it easy to distinguish orders created in Yandex Metrica.

  • Order date

By default, the session date and time are used (with a slight offset).

If your system uses a different order date, you can enter it here.

  • Revenue

The revenue generated by the order (for example, payment amount).

  • Cost

The costs associated with the order, if you want to calculate your profit margin.

If you specify a cost, the goal value for the status is recorded as revenue minus cost.

  • Status

Select a status from the list: In progress, Paid, Canceled, Spam, or a custom status you've added.

  • Comment on the order

Any relevant details, such as "awaiting advance payment," "10% discount," or "canceled — too expensive."

  • Add another order

If necessary, you can create multiple orders from a single session (for example, if a customer placed several orders).

You can add up to five orders.

What happens after you save

After you click Save:

  • The customer profile is created or updated.
  • The order is created with the specified parameters.
  • The session is removed from the Unsorted sessions section.
  • The order appears in the selected status tab (for example, In progress or Paid).
  • A conversion for the goal associated with the selected order status is recorded in the session.

When the order's status changes, a conversion for the new status goal is recorded in the session.
This way, you can track offline stages as regular Yandex Metrica conversions.

It can take up to three hours on average for an order to be linked to a session and for the relevant goal conversion to be recorded.

Working with the order list

Go to any status tab to the right of Unsorted sessions (for example, In progress, Paid, All orders).

Order table

The table displays:

  • Order ID: Manually entered or auto-generated ID.
  • Order date: Order date and time (from the session or imported data).
  • Customer ID: Imported or auto-generated customer ID.
  • Customer: Customer's name and ID with a brief comment, if available.
  • Revenue: Revenue for the order.
  • Status: Current order status.
  • Comment: A comment on the order.
  • Session: A link to the session the order is linked to (if this column is available in your interface version).

You can:

  • Sort orders by columns (for example, by revenue or date)
  • Open the order card.

Change an order's status

To change an order's status:

  1. In the Status column, select a new status from the list.
  2. The order will move to the new status tab.
  3. A conversion for the goal associated with the new status will be recorded in the session.

Previously triggered goals (like Order in progress) remain in your statistics, and when you change the status, another goal (like Order paid) is added.

This way, you can build a funnel from the initial inquiry to the final payment.
